Like a lot of folk, I have found that the 320GB drive in the Foxsat fills up pretty quick with HD material.

I understand that the Western Digital WD10EVCS 1TB drive is known to work well in the Foxsat and that various makes of external USB drives are OK.

My question is ---- does anyone have any experience of an external 1TB USB drive where the drive can be swapped with the 320Gb internal drive or are the external drives just not good enough to be put in the Foxsat.

You'll have to check the specs, as each one is different. I have a 1TB external USB/firewire drive and I wouldn't use it in the HDR. It's a cheap, cheerful, and rather noisy Samsung. I'd prefer to pay a small premium and install one that's meant for video work, and that generally means not one that is pre-installed in a case.

I have removed the internal drive and replaced it with an external esata caddy. This works fine with the above 1Tb Western Digital drive and the Original 320Gb drive. I have not tried it with other Sata drives though.
