Hi everyone,
I have just bought a Humax Foxsat HD recorder and I am very pleased with it,although I have a few questions regarding it's use. Not being very good with technology I always like to tax the brains of people who are,(thats you guys so here goes.First of all,is it best to turn the machine off when not in use for a while ie,at the socket,or should it be left on standby? I like Virgin 1 and 5 US,neither of which are in the freesat lineup, would these be included in a manual channel search, and are there problems if you want to record non freesat channels? I think thats about it for now,but I'm pretty sure that it wont be long before something else confuses me ![]() Thanks for your patience |

Regarding power, it is best to leave it in standby in most cases (it depends what you mean by 'a while'), as if you turn it off at the plug, it won't be able to record anything you have in your schedule. If it's in standby, it will still record things you have in your schedule, and the rest of the time it will use minimal power (I think it's about 1W).

The channels you mention are encrypted so you can't get them. |

Five US is currently on a pan-European beam and is encrypted by Sky for copyright restrictions. There is a possibility it may be available FTA and therefore on Freesat in the future. |
