Well the full name is Torvill & Dean's Dancing On Ice if you want to get technical...not Torvill & Dean and their skating crew. I liked it in Defrosted/Extra/Exclusive etc... and stuff though when at the end of the show they might show a routine by a couple.

I think calling ITVs attitude to the pros "disgusting" is way too strong, but I do agree the whole show would benefit from more focus on, and input from them.

In my opinion "Defrosted" was a terrible show, but DOI badly needs a companion piece. I'd love them to do someting in the ITT mode with midweek interviews and practise footage but I fear ITV are afraid of being accused of ripping off the Strictly format

I'm disgusted that you actually think the treatment is disgusting. It's not like they lock 'em up after every show, only to be released again to perform like monkeys...or do they?

If I remember correctly, do the pro skaters choreograph the bolero?

It is meant to be a joint effort between them and the celebrity, but it never works out that way!

Why all the fuss? I know someone on the show who has said that the programme is all about the celebs and not the pros. At the end of the day, the pros are reasonably well paid and in pretty much continuous employment - unlike their "real" world. If they don't like their lack of tv coverage there are other skaters who would love the opportunity.

I don't mind. Its a little more fun finding out info by yourslef!

But I agree more pro dances should be shown every week or so in the results show or something!

I wish they'd bring back Defrosted. I love all the backstage stuff

Isn't it true that Chris is injured and unable to skate with Jane this series? Surely a great opportunity to showcase the other professional skaters. To be honest I find J and C rather dull personalities.

Dull? This show wouldn't even exist without them! Lucky for us, Chris will be back.

The "interview" wasn't a fabrication. Everything in quote marks was stuff Nicole had said when she did the interview with them. The newspaper then added comment and opinion and made it appear they were Nicoles comments and opinions.

The fact is she gave an interview about the show - the fact is NOTW then added their own comment and opinion which they then apologised for.

The pro skaters do not seem to be given (or perhaps to seek) the celebrity status that the SCD pros have.

Maybe they are just happy to do the job they are paid for with seeking to live in the limelight.

I guess Brendan's relationship with Natasha started everything off for the SCD dancers.

Does anyone know if any of the Pro Ice dancers are in relationships with each other? It will probably take a realtionship between a celeb and their pro skate partner for them to start to get the same coverage.

Mel and Fred are married and so are Andre and Susie.

I agree, on SCD I know the names of all the professional dancers, but on DOI I don't know anything about them at all. It seems the show is all about the celebrities and the professionals are just in the background.
I wouldn't go as far to call ITV's treatment of them "disgusting" though.

I think in many cases the pros on Strictly are more interesting than the celebs - I often vote based on how well I think a routine had been choreographed etc as well as how well it is performed - there is a whole package of skills being shown. As someone has said because the skaters don't choreograph or do most of the teaching their role is inevitably less important than the Strictly pros.

Be good to get more info on the skaters though. I think Frankie is really cute and a wee bio on her and some pics on the ITV website aint too much to ask.

I seem to have developed geriatric memory lapse. Can someone remind me which pros from last year aren't there this year? There seemed to be so many new ones this year and try as I might I can't remember the old ones.

I used to like the 5.30 show Ben Shephard did - shame they don't bring that back as they used to show the progress during the week in more detail than the little cameos during the actual Sunday night show.

I think DOI has it more right re the pros than SCD does pros can be changed on DOI without a big uproar although some of the skaters have a big following we have no egos in the show

Many of the pro skaters have their own fans and fansites - Maria, Fred & Mel, Kristina, Matt Evers(Facebook) - so although the show doesn't give them very much attention, the pro skaters are gaining their own followers. My daughter goes to any ice skating show if Fred, Mel, or Matt are in it

They really should give them more time and actually interview them, instead of just caring about the celebrity.

Does anyone know if this was ITV's decision or the skaters', BTW? I loved Sergei and am a bit gutted he's not back this series - but if he quit because he was afraid of getting another Tamara/Aggie, I guess that's fair

Thanks for that. I wonder why they have such an odd number of couples this year? Anyone know who the 'spares' are this year?
