Nice to see Beth Rowley nominated - her album is fookin ace! I find it strange that Amy Mcdonald was never nominated last year

The Best single category is based on sales and airplay.

Scouting for Girls nominated in the best live act category?! What a joke!

I think the toughest cateogry is best international album because all the nominated albums are very good so it can go either way. Same with International act.

In the other categories, i expect Coldplay & Duffy to be the big winners.

Yay for Take That being nominated for best band! I reckon they've got a good chance of that definitely. Good on Pink too for the international female! Shame The Script aren't nominated

Congratulations to Coldplay and Duffy (my two acts of the year), although the complete emission of the Kaiser Chiefs is a mystery. Not sure about the new award, or any of the nominated artists. The most surprising categories are the Internationals, although this might be expected, as our charts are dominated by Brits.

How the hell can The Ting Tings be nominated for Best Album above Take That ?? The Ting Tings album is the same 3 minute plinky plonky song over and over again !!

I think The Circus will be eligble for Brits 2010, it may have missed the cut-off point. But I toally agree with you.

Hope James Morrison wins Best Male. He deserves it after a great year. I'd like Adele to win Best Female but I think Duffy will.

nice to see Beck has got his traditional nomination, despite noone knowing who he is!!

also i feel Duffy will continue the tradition of a one album wonder winning loads of awards (see also the Darkness) before disappearing into obscurity.

I think Girls Aloud will win something this time, their popularity seems higher than ever

Well thats their problem. Doesn't say much about their tastes in music

I'd love Will to finally win the best british male this year, and for Girls Aloud to win something. They have both shown that a successful and long lasting career in music can follow on from winning a talent competition, as long as they show they have some originality and nouse.

The live acts is a weird category

Coldplay for band and album

UGHHHH
Why Scouting For Girls?!?!?! Awful. I am young but I am soon realising that the Brits are really taking the piss now.

The brits are a load of ****. Commiseration has to be granted to Iron maiden, AC/DC and Radiohead in being nominated for a truly crap award. They are credible artists and do not deserve this insult.

On a final note... Bernard butler, your a ****.

the darkness are doing a new album next year, they haven't done anything in a while because of the lead guy's drug problems.
Hello.

What a joke. The X Factor singles in the best single category and Scouting For Girls nominated for 3 awards?!?!?!

The X Factor singles were just covers, and I would like to say I much prefer the originals. They are undeserving.

Scouting For Girls are rubbish live and although they do create catchy tunes to their songs, the words are very repetitive and basic.

Radiohead have, to date, never won a Brit award.

I doubt they lose much sleep over it though.

Because she was nominated in it last year and hasn't released a new album since then (Spirit Deluxe doesn't count as it is effectively still the same album) so she wasn't eligible this year.

oh ok. And how did scouting for girls get 3 nominations? Is it because they turned up and performed?
And who cares about Peter Andre? It seemed like itv were promoting their shows especially with x factor single up for an award. its not even their song. I hope coldplay take all four awards.

I've just seen that Scouting for Girls on the nominations programme.

Please, please tell me that no one takes them seriously. They are a joke act, right? No one thinks they are actually good!

If the Brit Awards are to regain any respect whatsoever then Elbow have to clean up here. It'll be embarrassing if they're beaten by complete shite like Scouting For Girls. Hope they also don't go for the safe option of Coldplay.

Ian Brown is a strange nomination, his album came out in 2007. Still, it'd be great to see King Monkey win.

Agreed. Well deserved. Beth has been overshadowed by the success of Adele and Duffy. While I like both of them, Beth's album is my favourite of the three.

I hope this nomination gets Beth some wider appreciation.

It's a good time for British female solo artists - and that's during a period when othera including KT Tunstall, Thea Gilmore and Nerina Pallot are having quiet periods. Oh yes, and anyone remember Joss Stone?

Just as well Duffy is in there - or they would have to change the name - from "The Brits" to "The Englands"
No further proof needed that the X factor and Radio 1 have ruined music in this country. It really is an insult to be nominated. (If Mr Blobby was still doing the rounds he would have been a cert to be nominated)
