Hi wastedyuthe! Swapping TV inputs does not work for me. I have just disabled the HDCP settings to see if this helps! Is this officially listed as a bug and is Bob Cat and his pals aware? Thx for your help. Peter

I listed this as a bug in the (very long) bug thread. I think BC said something about it, but I can't remember. Regardless, he always says to email support anyway (the email address is on the first page of this thread if you want to do the same) which I have done. I would really like them to acknowledge this issue, as this thread is proof that it is happening to too many customers. I wonder how many other owners there are out there with this issue, who aren't members of this forum. |

OK I will try and explain the slowing down when changing inputs to HWMBO, it only happens when she is recording 'Neighbours and Home and Away'. Perhaps the Hummy or even the Panny objects to this 'dumbing down' and is protesting. I will email Humax and log this bug and tell them my marriage is at risk. LOL

[quote=wastedyuthe;29990886] if I simply remove the HDMI lead from the back of the Humax, then reconnect it straight away, the picture and audio appears!
.....! Firstly, can anyone else confirm if they have had the same issue? ...../QUOTE]I missed this sorry. Yes I have the same intermittent problem. It happens when I am doing two recordings in standby with the TV off as I am out, return home and want to chaseplay one. TV is a Panny |

Is this a plasma only bug? Pioneer, Panasonic have problems, Sony's are OK! Pls let us know if u have this problem because we feel its more widespread than these few isolated cases. I can imagine some people even not realising its a bug and just except that its normal for it not to switch on when its recording in standby.

Same here with HDR-->Yamaha amp-->Toshiba TV.
It only happens when the HDR is in active standby, ie, the LCD is glowing but the light is red. I would definitely say it is a major fault with the HDR and needs rectifying ASAP as it affects many users. On my setup, switching the amp to another input then back after switching the HDR out of standby cures it, but that is hardly a useful solution. |

I had a related issue this evening. I've only been using my HDR for a few days now, and this is the first time it happened.
It went to a black screen when I pressed "Stop" at the end of viewing a recorded programme. I thought maybe the video board had fried, so I used the rocker switch on the back to restart it and all was fine. |

wastedyuthe,
Which input other than 1 did you use on the Pioneer? I believe you can only use 1,3 or 4 (not 2) for this type of signal. Personally I use 1 for Blu Ray and 3 for the Humax. Also, there are a wide range of settings in the Pioneers menus for HDMI, it really is a manual out job when setting these up. Hope this helps. |

Mine is doing the same, it has been since I brought it just before Christmas.
At first I thought it was a feature, that the box wouldnt switch on whilst recording, I even went as far at tweaking the settings in the 'secret menu' to change the satelite settings, thinking it wasnt able to record two things at once, or record, bootup and watch at the same time. I've since noticed that the HDR is responding, as i switched it one whilst it was recording in standby, then pressed the stop button and OK, and cancelled the current recording, then I switched the box off and back on again... which is when it booted correctly with a picture. I've not try unplugging and plugging the HDMI lead back in, this isnt really an option as getting around the back of the TV is nightmare. My TV is a Panasonic Plasma I'm using HDMI input 1 |

I get this too. Switching inputs on my amp (the HDR's HDMI is routed through the amp) seems to solve it.

It only changes the code set that the remote outputs as far as I know. |

Doesn't this suggest that the problem is with the TV?
Now that i've started using my HDR a bit more (we've watched most of our tivo backlog) I've started to have more problems - - While recording 'Long road to Finchley' (BBC Four, SD) on Saturday night. Box locked up - no picture, wouldn't respond to power button or remote. I pulled the plug at the end of the recording (and think it recorded OK). - watching MadMen in HD picture broke up/turned white static then sceen went black (i think about 40 minutes in) - next episode of Mad Men in HD, the next evening did the same thing after 10 minutes) Both of these last two times i went through a process of switching the box on and off, changing inputs on the TV and changing inputs on the amp to get a picture back (to the point where i'm not sure what actually solved it). I think there's definitely a problem with the HDR rather than the TV - the Pioneer has been around 18 months or more now and i've never seen any mention of HDCP issues with it whereas there seem to be a lot of problems mentioned on here. The other thing i've noticed is that the HDR doesn't maintain it's sound output very well - bringing up the guide cause the amp to pick up and lose an audio signal (the display of 'Linear PCM' flicks on and off rapidly when the guide is on screen). |

If its the TV it seems strange that different TV all seem to have the same problem, commom factor is the Humax. Agree on my Panny switch to HDMI 2 & then back to 1 cures it. Re Dave |

I have the same issue but when going through my video scaler.
Switching to other inputs on the scaler then back multiple times will eventually get a picture. My Panasonic plasmas input is active during this time as it displays the video scalers output (blue muted screen). The video scaler is indicating it has no input signal from the HDR. So I don't think it has anything to do with the plasma or the scaler and everything to do with the HDR. For info my foxsat HD never has this problem, or any other dvd/BR player or set top box for that matter. |
