Fitted quad LMB to sky dish running a Foxsat HDR
Thanks to members help. I ordered a quad lmb that came with adapters and fitted easily to my sky mini dish (East England Norfolk) The old single sky lmb gave a 90% signal and a 100% quality. The new lmb took the signal and quality both up to 100% on the original WF100 single cable, I then fitted the twin cable CF63 through an open window before cutting to length (20Mtrs) then showed 90% signal and 100% quality, I then ran the cable through the wall and cut it to around 10Mtrs and the signal went back up to 100% for signal and quality. So, as others pointed out to me that cf63 was OK for 10Mtr runs worked out OK.
From one of the other terminals on the new lmb I ran a length of old wf100 with a join across the front of the house ( around 25Mtrs) into my fortec star beta and am getting around 85% signal strength and quality, the yellow bar at the bottom (not sure what that denotes maybe errors) is showing around 15%. Thanks for everyones help looks like it might have saved me fitting a larger dish although poor weather will be the test ![]() Dave |

Good to see its ok, Im pretty sure I have 15m of the lower quality cable and havent has a single glitch or break up yet but that maybe because I am on the south coast with a good reception.

Had you originally set up the PVR with the single LNB and loopthrough? We found that we had to do a factory reset in order for the PVR to realise it now had two separate feeds from the LNB.
Try recording a channel and then seeing which channels it will let you watch at the same time. If it lets you watch any channel then it knows it has two LNB feeds. Does anyone know whether there's a way of making the PVR redetect the LNB feed setup without doing a factory reset? |

Just seen in this thread that there is a way to tell the box it has two "different" LNB feeds:

Factory Reset
Yes! just did the factory reset and it`s now seeing both feeds. Unless I`m mistaken it did allow me to record two and watch another at the same time.
I haven`t had a freeze up of the hand set since the very first day and I`m now more convinced that I had pressed something on the remote that I shouldn`t have. There`s a lot to learn on this box but it does seem to be a superb box. Now just out of interest, if I connected a cable to the lmb out would I need a box the other end to be able to watch on another tv? (rethinking I suppose the answer must be yes) How about like on my Fortec Star, I can run from video out to another tv (I have this set up to my wife`s workroom tv) Thanks Dave |

The 'freeze up' of the handset is most likely because at some time you pressed one of the white opaque buttons at the top of the remote (marked PVR TV DVD AUDIO). If you press them they glow red. These are to change the remote to control other (Humax?) devices. Just make sure if you have a play, or it freezes again, that you press the PVR button.
As for the lNb out, it is only for use it you only have 1 cable from the lnb, and then you connect the out to lnb2 in. If you have another STB then you need a dedicated feed from the lnb for it. |

Not sure where LMB came from. It's a LNB Low Noise Block Down Converter and it's occasionly called a LNC Low Noise Converter. You can simulate the effect of bad weather by covering about half of the dish with a wet towel.
