You don't - just use a decent supplier - I use EDF who have a Freefone number (0800) and as they are paying for the calls there is never a long wait (worse being 90 seconds), not to mention UK call centres with helpful and pleasant employees and a switchboard (01 number) who'll happily put you though to CS when calling from a mobile. What more could you want?

P.S. The numbers for the wonderful company known as "Sky" that are listed on http://www.saynoto0870.com/ now seem to be all shut down. They seem to all tell you the service is no longer in use. How nice that Sky should close all loopholes like that.... very thorough of them, wish they would invest some of that effort into customer service.

What really annoys me is that if you are someone who only has a mobile phone, e.g. me and I suspect many others, calls to 08 numbers are generally astronomical. Having had a troubled few years with ill health and poor finances those calls can add up very quickly. Even the wonderful DWP use 08 numbers and will not give out normal landline numbers.
Is that the "fault" of the money grabbing companies or the mobile companies? I suspect both. Grumble grumble... not fair!

P.P.S. Had to call Sky several times lately, spent £s trying to get back money they had effectively stolen from me after being given a free friends and family package and assurances they would take no money after the year... of course they did take money. Stupid me. Took me 16 minutes theother day to get through to someone who could help after being shunted around via India and giving my account details 3 times. Still no resolution.

PPPS even the Sky operators at their various offices will not transfer you to customer services or elsewhere. A slight lie that as I did manage it once so I guess I should be fair.

I've just switched to the free evening and weekends BT tariff.

So which dialing codes are included?

01, 02, 03, 0870, 0845... are there any others included?

If also only have a mobile so although on some packages you get free minutes it's to regular phone no's and not to 0845 and 0870 or even 0800.

I have to use a call box for 0800.

Many organisations including council give out 0845 and say this is better for the customer.

No it's not.... if it was a regular number people could sometimes call for free depending on what pacakge they have with their mobile or landline provider.
With 0845 you usually have to pay.


And of course many companies are now using 0844 and 0871 so the new BT free calls to 0845 and 0870 doesn't help.

And when you call any number nowadays you never know how long you will be held in a queue before you actually get to speak to someone.

It's all a ripoff of the customer once more......they just cannot get enough.....everything is for their benefit only.

Anyone with inclusive minutes on their mobile contract for 01 and 02 calls should check which of the (020 0222 0700 or 020 0222 0900) gateway numbers works on their network so they can also get inclusive freephone calls.
