Sorry to hear that Mostwanted2009.

Glad it was peaceful - hope you can take some comfort in that. Was she very old?

Oh Mostwanted, I'm so sorry. The one consolation is that she didn't suffer and I'm sure you're glad for that. It must have been a dreadful shock though.

Those of us who have/have had pets will know how you're feeling today. My thoughts are with you,

Take care

Thanks guys. No she was'nt very old, but we've had her since 2000 so at least we had her for a long time.. She's been buried in the garden with the other pets that came before her. She suffered some kind of stroke but this was the first time she'd been ill. Don't know the main details but that's what we think caused it.

Big Hug, I lost one of my cats just over two months ago suddenly in a car accident.

It is an old cliche, but it is true things will get easier with time. I cried a lot in the first week, but now when I see photos of her I remember the good, short time we had together with just a tinge of sadness.

So sorry for your loss. I lost two before Christmas - one sixteen, the other twelve. They were so loved, as I'm sure your dear cat was too. Thinking of you.

I will never have a pet again. My cat died of cancer in 1997. I still miss him.

I think you'll take a bit longer than that

So sorry to hear about your cat. 9 is not old for a cat.

I've lost several pets over the years and I never learn. I still get another one and go through it all over again.

Sorry about your loss. We have always had a number of cats living in our barn and when there's one who is more friendly and intelligent than the others it makes things rather special. I'm sure we both know that not all cats are the same.
We lost a lovely cat a couple of years ago when she wandered onto the lane and was run over. She was really lovely and so trusting. If, as sometimes happened she "got under my feet" and I accidentally trod on her, she would be intelligent enough to realise that I had done it accidentally and rub up against my leg signalling me to stroke her. The others won't let us get anywhere near them.
We have a nice tom now who like to come into the house for about an hour each evening also he follows us if we go for a walk.
I just hope you find another "special" cat soon. I'm sure you will.

I'm so sorry about your lovely cat, I know exactly how you feel. It's total devestation, our cat Poppy died last September by stupid boy racers and we were heartbroken. We buried her in the garden and have lovely plants all around her. We miss her so much, the pain has got easier but not clear. We have two cats now, who we love to bits. I'm training these to be house cats as you can guess, I know they'll have to go one day...I feel so terrible for you and I'm so so sorry x

It's because you are so lovely and love your animals and treat them in a way that they should be treated wish there were more people like you!

Cats can die suddenly like that.

We had a cat years ago which died aged five years with sudden kidney failure. He was perfectly OK in the morning but failed to return home that day. We found him next morning under a bush in the garden.

I'm so sorry to hear about your dear cat, and everybody else who's lost an animal recently. I know how devastated I was for months after losing a cat 4 years ago, and I know I'll feel like that again when my present two go, but it's the price we pay for all the love and joy we have from them while they're here, like somebody else said before.

((((((hugs)))))) and I hope you find another furry friend just as special one day.

I do feel for you. We had to have one of our lovely cats put to sleep last week and are so sad at the moment. It's heartbreaking to lose them, but we're comforting ourselves with memories of all the happy times we had with her, and that we did the right thing for her in the end. My thoughts are with you, and everyone else in the thread who's lost a beloved pet.
