How come it's so bad in it's home country when it's clearly audible here 'til around 9pm these days?

According to a story in yesterday's Belfast Telegraph newspaper, Downtown's former Head of Programmes - John Rosborough - is back on Downtown Radio from tonight (19 September) at 10.30 with 'Take It Easy', which started life there in 1977, ended there in 1990, was briefly resurrected in 2005 when he was at U105, and now stutters back to life again where it started.

Well, listened last night and didn't hear anything of JR, just continuous music, albeit of a take it easy genre.

Wonder what happened as to why he wasn't there ? Or maybe I didn't listen long enough ?

I suppose these days internet radio is just as good. My Pure Evoke Flow is great for listening to UK radio stations not available on digital satellite. The best radio I've ever bought, even if it has a few annoying quirks.

I assume Downtown does show up on a quick search (some stations don't) ? I must have a go and see what happens.

Hardly a shock that the Belfast Telegraph would get a story wrong! I just have added a big pinch of salt when I posted this!

Thats a real pity, I used to listen to Candy in the 80s on Downtown when she did that evening show where she played soul and funk, she even took requests for Hip Hop and Electro.

It's mentioned elsewhere on here, but the Dougie Marshall scandal added to the departure of Johnny Hero to U 105 makes it a pretty bad week for Downtown. They've got their work cut out for them now.

Oh yes he would.!, it involves sex and possible breaking of
the Data Protection Act, and a few other things as well.
The Sunday World newspaper in N.Ireland ran the story, pics
and all for 2 weeks in a row, pretty bad.

Downtown Radio.

If it was me I would put Ian Beasant on a double header in the morning with somebody .I loved his Motorshows and he has always interacted with all the jocks when he has been out covering the Motorsport. He amd Big T together and also Richard young were brilliant .Owen Larkin in the morning is woeful.
Maybe I am completely wrong and Ian is not available as he is a Freelance- He is very well liked and respected in Northern Ireland and also a very funny Guy.

This is the story I've heard as to the reason why he was suspended and why he's unlikely to return. I actually think he's a good presenter so it's a shame it's turned out like this..

Mojo Loop is quite correct Dr. Bobbins. This appears to be a much earlier dispute with the newspaper and a seperate story altogether, even though the settlement was a few days ago (probably pure coincidence).

Still, wasn't Big T involved in several incidents a few years ago and he's managed to survive so you never know. Maybe the new management team do things differently now though.

Don't think so. Owen Larkin does drive.

I still like this station although they seem to be losing out to U105 bigtime in the Belfast area.

George Jones, announced his final show on U105 last night, word is, he's going to Drive-Time at Downtown, Owen possibly moving earlier, be interesting to see their new line-up, though George will hardly set the world on fire up against Johnny Hero on U105, sad day Downtown got rid of him , pity, as always used to like Downtown when him and Jerry were there.

Downtown Nights

I See Kenny Tosh has moved to Downtown, after a fairly long stint at U105.
He did a great night time show although, It was Recorded on U105, I think Kenny is live on Downtown.

Not live at Downtown either, not sure many stations are live overnight, maybe Cool FM
