Far better to make your own. Particularly nice with half a glace cherry on top, adds a sweet piquancy to balance the warm savouryness of the spam.

Well, as it's a Come Dine With Me thread, I feel like I should make an effort - how about:

Pineapple from a can wrapped in Dairylea Singles Cheese
Bernard Matthew's Turkey Drummers nestled on a bed of Space Invader spaghetti shapes, garnished with potato croquettes
Tinned fruit cocktail and squirty cream to finish....

I'll go for a Melon boat garnished with Maraschino cherries (I knew that would get you salivating) followed by a Vesta Beef Curry which contains no meat so any veggies will be happy. For pud, what could impress more than Arctic Roll? I might get all cheffy and squeeze some ice cream topping over. After Eights with the supermarket instant coffee and everyone will think I'm ever so posh!

Starter: Cheese, pineapple and a grape impaled thoughtlessly upon a immaciated cocktail stick and then shoved in a whimsical manner into a grapefruit cunningly disguised by wrapping it up in tin foil. Ugly and with no artistic merit.

First Course : One of those revolting television dinners that looks nothing like it does on the illustration on the box when you cook it. The serving suggestion throws me into turmoil as I don't have the same colour plate.

Pudding : One of those terrible individual frozen mousses from the 80's that has not been allowed to melt and is masquerading in the style of a school refectory's poor attempt of producing ice cream.

Blue Nun wine, the height of sophistication!

I'm surprised it would even get a chance to start defrosting if it had been in the freezer since the 80's.
