............... with Todd

Too early to predict that, just because he wasn't good on his first dance doesn't mean he wont improve on his second. John, however much I liked him, didn't show many signs of improvement.

I almost hope there is that sort of situation, seeing as the rubbish dancers tend to be the most entertaining. Who doesn't want to watch a Z-list celebrity fall on their backside?
Didn't it happen on DOI last year with Greg what's-his-surname? He was pretty terrible but stayed in until the last few weeks because he was so entertaining. I don't remember him getting slated for that, whereas John Sargeant was treated terribly.

Why not? Some people take these shows far too seriousley. They are a bit of fun.

John sergeant played that part though, he couldn't be bothered learning to dance.

With Todd, he just is a slow learner, mind you, he is bound to have watched how JS did on SCD and it might have inspired him...

I agree However, we don't know how much Todd will improve. He might simply just be a slow learner and he could be really good after a few performances (if he stays in that long).

Looks like we do have that situation

I feel sorry for Graham Le Saux - Todd was just awful. But it's not the first time, and won't be the last, that someone is voted in on either popularity or sympathy. It will always be that way with public voting.

We take it seriously because IMO it's a competition NOT a popularity contest, that's how I enjoy the show, I don't vote personally but if I did it would be for the quality of the performance.

I hope we don't have a John Sargeant situation with Todd.

I doubt it will be the same as the JS saga.

That was my first thought the moment the cheers came after his performance.... oh dear.... I do hope not. Its Kristina I feel sorry for, such a lovely girl, and she never seems to get very far each year. I would be getting a bit pissed off if I was her... she needs a year where she can shine with a partner.

But equally its not meant to be a complete joke. Yes its kinda funny when someone is embarassingly bad, but its a very short lived joke and not one you want to see repeated each week.

I appreciate that it was Todd's first week, but like all the others, he has been practicing for about 6 weeks and even with all that practice under his belt it looked at time like it was his first time on the ice.

I understood why people voted for JS although I didn't agree with it - they thought he was entertaining. What people though entertaining about Todd Carty baffles me. Instead, someone who Torvill and Dean said they were looking forward to seeing develop goes out.
As I said I don't like the worst ones being saved but I accept that the rules mean they can be. In this case I don't understand it at all and I actually enjoy watching the skating routines which means at least one more week of a waste of time. I am finally getting disheartened with these shows.

Oh dearNo its not- its an entertainment show.
Are you one of these people that moaned about John Saregeant and then moaned about Tom Chambers winning? You sound like it.

Its not all about what YOU enjoy.

I can foresee a John Sergeant situation with Todd.

Serious or not, it annoys me when people try their utmost to do their best and get eliminated in favour of someone whose best is simply not and hardly likely to ever be good enough.

There is far more room for improvement in SCD than there is in DOI. Ice is a totally different matter to a dry floor.

She got to the final in the first series with Stefan Booth and was totally robbed by Daniel Whiston and Gaynor "Shopping Trolley" Faye on the back of her Coronation Street popularity.

I couldn't understand the moans about Tom winning. There was someone who was truly entertaining for the right reasons. Yet some people would have rather the good but yawnsome Rachel Stevens or the uselsess Lisa "Four Tentacles and Two Testicles" Snowdon had won.

To be fair, Greg wasn't that bad. The only things he lacked were the grace and poise to perform a dance routine. He certainly didn't lack skating ability or confidence on the ice.

John Sergeant lacked dancing ability and Todd Carty lacks both dancing and skating ability.

It happens in so many shows

Aggie McKenzie, Daniel Evans, The McDonald Brothers, CHICO, Sanjaya, Greg Rydsezki, Ruby Wax, Tara Palmer Tompkinson, the blondes from GMTV ...

Is this why Labour are in power?

If anyone is going to a John Sargeant of DOI, i think it'll be Colleen - she's got a great personality and is quick witted. We have yet to see her skate, but if she is bad then I can see her personality getting her through

I think Graeme had potential and would have shown a lot of improvement.

Todd was really weak and I don't think in a funny way - it was quite painful to watch.

I think he simply hasn't got the ability to make it as a skater, like some others we have seen, and you have to admire them for trying so hard and wanting to do well.

After all these weeks of training with the best coaches, if there isn't a spark of something there by now there's unlikely to be in the coming weeks.

Sometimes Jason puts things in the bluntest of terms, but tonight he was bang on the money regarding Todd.

Sorry but as far as I'm concerned it's the Eastenders vote all over again.

I react differently to DOI than Stricty - bad dancers just dance badly, bad skaters can injure themselves and their partners. It was wince-making to watch Aggie lurch on.

Absolutely. I suspect he is more popular for Grange Hill than Eastenders, perhaps. Sentiment and all that. dare i say it, but I'm rather glad he's still in...

I just think it's unfair when dancers who are better go instead of dancers who are quite frankly awful, whether they are more likeable or not. I sincerely hope it doesn't keep happening.
