I don't see Todd as a John Sergeant Mark II, more a Gary Rhodes Mark II!!!!

Like Gary, Todd said he only had a small time to spend on practice because of other commitments .... that's all well and good, but if they can't put in the time they should ask if they could be considered for the following season and leave more time free.

Having said that, plenty of other contestants, both in doi and strictly, have regular jobs to do as well, and seem to manage it. What about Donal ... practising in all the different countries he went to? Now that's commitment!

Ahhh, if only, but miracles ..... and all that!!!

It happen last year with Aggie and Greg, it always happens in the early rounds of everything, it'll die out by the later rounds, we are usually left with the best despite it all.

I was gutted when Andrei and Natalie went out early last year - whilst Aggie stayed in - but 'twas ever thus.

The weak household names stay in over the average skaters who are lesser known, thats why next week with the girls is gonna be interesting, Coleen will finish bottom id imagine but she wont be in the skate off cos she's really well liked, it will be the other girls, i can see zoe being this years natalie.

Week one and it already loses credibility as a skating contest

Thats what happens every year, Sarah Greene was not worse than Aggie, nor was Natalie Pinkman, nor was anyone who went before John Sergeant, Kate Gerraway The list goes on and on. It starts to become about the dancing and skating later on in weeks 5 or 6, before that its a popularity contest, these shows always have been.

And so it starts...

For me, Todd wasn't good at skating, gave the poorest performance and wasn't entertaining.

No wonder SCD was such a fiasco this year. While in general a good-to-best dancer has won both SCD and DoI sometimes the udnerdog is given support. It doesn't lose the show credibility, what does is people over-reacting to someone who has given their time out to take part in the show. He got through, unlucky Graeme, but it's not the end of the show as we know it.

Please, let's not take this series down the SCD route. I was watching it, thinking how relaxed it seemed compared to SCD6.

I hate public phone voting. I loathe and detest it. It's a shallow way to make money and makes a mockery out of what could genuinely be a decent show.

They could at LEAST give 100% of the phone vote to charity, but the greedy execs want to fleece the public - which means the public mainly vote for their favourite (we all know this is just a popularity contest) and not the best skater.

It seems marginally better with DOI as the bottom two were certainly pretty bad, but I think it'll be some time before Todd gets voted out and that's a shame as it's supposed to be a 'dance' contest.

Greg Rusedski was really bad last year but it was so entertaining that the viewers kept him in!

I hope the same happens with Todd!

His routine certainly had me smiling!

I think people are getting too worked up too early. This happens every series of every show like this. Someone fairly dire stays in ahead in someone who is not that bad but never going to win. Sure, it's naff for the celeb affected but is it really that terrible in terms of the show as a whole?

Wait two or three weeks before punching the wall and throwing things around. I don't think Todd will last that long if he keeps producing routines like his first. However, I may be wrong...

well he does not deserve to still be in (todd that is) and I really felt for sad for Kristina & Graeme as they did a super skate-off.

It didn't make me smile. The sooner he is out the better. I didn't like him in The Bill and I don't like him in this. I know it is a bit too soon to judge but if last night's performance goes he won't improve.

That's exactly what my hubby said... 'It's John S. all over again' Makes a mockery of the ones who show potential doesn't it?

I reckon if you were to tally up all the votes cast in reality shows since the last general election, and compare it to turnout in 2005, you would find people are more interested in voting for their underdog fave than they are in selecting their government.

Todd is exactly the same as Aggie was last year - a little older, completely devoid of ability on the ice, but charming and self-deprecating enough (and with a big enough fanbase from his 'day job') to make it through another round. And we shouldn't underestimate the value of 'car crash' voters who want to see him fall down.

IIRC, Aggie lasted four weeks and was kicked off the week she fell down, so the omens are better than they were in JS's case, where people were lasting for seven or eight weeks.

Add to which the boys side is loaded with average to poor performers whilst the girls on age and fitness and what little we have seen are almost all potentially similar in ability and better. Melinda being very fit may mean Colleen is the only girl who could go early without losing someone with potential. Its a strange bit of casting - too few good boys and too few expendable girls.

The very last thing DOI needs is their very own John Sargent situation.

As a fan of Kristina I was furiouse to see her go last night when Tod had been saved. I have no problem with anyone staying in the competition who has potential and maybe just had a bad night. But with Tod there's nothing there. It's likely only to get worse as the others improve.

Although the public seem to like putting people who clearly aren't up to the task, for whatever reason. With DOI thats just not a good idea. Ice is far harder to work with than a ballroom floor, with far greater risk of injurie for both partners.

Lets just hope that people realise this and quickly. Even if it is already too late for 1 partnership that may have had potential.

I dunno if that'll matter so much once they all start skating together, the viewing demographic does tend to vote out the glamorous females and hang onto the butch lads

Didn't all the girls disappear in seconds last year as well? By the time Zaraah came in for Michael they'd lost four female celebs, I think...

I so enjoy everyone getting so riled so I'll be in the TC camp and enjoy the furore on here.

It's all just a bit of fun.

I didn't waste my money voting, but unlike cyfrin, I would say that Todd DOES deserve to be in, based the public vote.


After all, that is what these shows are about . They are not just about ability, they are part expert opinion/part audience choice.
