We take it seriously because IMO it's a competition NOT a popularity contest, that's how I enjoy the show, I don't vote personally but if I did it would be for the quality of the performance.

I hope we don't have a John Sargeant situation with Todd.
Your right its a competition and Im sure at the end of it the best one will win.

However, a competition usually begins with everyone on a level playing field and with Ray and Jessica it just isnt going to be.
If there had been celebs with NO ice experience then it would be fair to say he deserves to go. That to me would be a fair competition.
I will hold judgement on him and see if he progresses.

It happens in so many shows

Aggie McKenzie, Daniel Evans, The McDonald Brothers, CHICO, Sanjaya, Greg Rydsezki, Ruby Wax, Tara Palmer Tompkinson, the blondes from GMTV ...
Sanjaya was fabulous - everyone else on that season was beyond dull. I've preordered his new book and his album. He was thoroughly entertaining.

LOL Ahh yes Greg - now he was funny!

Top marks to Todd for getting the routine done. Tucker Jenkins lives on! Hoorah!
Greg was funny because he could actually skate and wasn't scared of the ice. It was his lack of rhythm and finesse that let him down so his clumsy attempts at graceful jumps and elegant gliding were amusing.

Todd has no dance skills and is petrified of the ice. Hopeless and very annoying. Shame because I like him.

Sanjaya was nowhere near as bad as the made out. He had a very pleasant and tuneful voice, performance skills and the looks and personality of a star.

I almost hope there isn't another John Sargeant type situation just because people will spend their time moaning about Todd still being in the competition and arguing how it is a serious competition, which would get very boring.
It's an entertainment show, it's meant to be a bit of fun for people viewing and the "celebrities" taking part. If someone gets that stressed about someone going out while a person who is worse stays in, then they need to step back and remember that this is just a TV show.

I found his performance quite endearing, the way he was so pleased that he kind of did a spiral, I know I would be pleased too if I was at his ability, which I kind of am! He's obviously enjoying himself and because I'm on par with him (not a good thing, I know) I'd like to see him actually progress further and see if it's possible for Jayne and Chris to make a skater out of him, and I'll think there's hope for me.

This show is really about turning non-skaters into skaters, so if they're pretty good skaters from the off then the fun kind of dies down pretty quick, I think.

Didn't all the girls disappear in seconds last year as well? By the time Zaraah came in for Michael they'd lost four female celebs, I think...
Zaraah started in week 3 by which time Sarah and Natalie had gone.

The very last thing DOI needs is their very own John Sargent situation.

I should imagine DOI would be absolutely delighted to have their very own John Sergeant situation! The ratings for SCD positively soared because of him, never mind the revenue from all the extra phone votes.

And don't forget that nearly two whole months after he quit, people are still talking about him and the reality tv show he took part in....

DOI has always had its John Sergeants: Emily, Aggie and Greg for example. Todd may attract this year's sympathy vote - if only to irritate Jason.

Whether John was trying to improve or not (and that's another debate) there seems little debate that he wasn't really getting any better as the competition went along, but people still voted for him because either they thought he was trying or they enjoyed his performances anyway.

I actually hope that Todd is inspired by the public vote he got this week and that his obvious attempts to learn to skate pay off in his next performance with a clear improvement.

It vertually obvious the Jason is under some instrutctions from the producers to have a go. They know rouglhy who they want in the final from the start. and barring a catastrophic performance from a favourite that puts them in the skate off they will find ways to get the more useless through for a while to boost their favourite to win chances.

By having a go at Todd Jason is doing no different to last year when he had a go at Greg. Result the audience kept Greg in for some time before he finally got in a skate off where he could be voted out.

Audience manipulation is an old trick and no doubt the audience will ba manipulated into voting for Todd through sympathy no matter how bad he is until the time comes when he does get voted into the skate off an out.

If the viewers voted how the judges voted then each week the worst would get voted off. However there would be a danger that someone who is really good having a bad week and getting voted off in the skate off if still bad on the routine they were given and up against someone who had obviously improved their performance for the skate off.

Too early to predict that, just because he wasn't good on his first dance doesn't mean he wont improve on his second. John, however much I liked him, didn't show many signs of improvement.

I think we can safely say it will very difficult for him to get worse.

In the end hough it is a competition and if it turns into a personality competition or people vote for someone because they feel sorry for them it will turn the program into a farce.

Maybe they should alter the program a bit so say for the first three weeks no one gets voted off. Then at the end of the 3 weeks 3 get voted off based on the average of the 3 weeks votes.

well he does not deserve to still be in (todd that is) and I really felt for sad for Kristina & Graeme as they did a super skate-off.
In the end these programes will be destroyed if people vote for people that are clearly totally hopeless.

In the end it is supposed to be a competition and voting for people just because they feel sorry for them just makes it silly. Clearly Todd should have gone

I think there is a huge difference between JS and Todd I really enjoyed JS first performance on SCD it was really sweet and he got some lovely judges comments. I was just scared for Todd he looked like a terrified toddler waiting to fall down. I think Jason is quite mischievous as he would realise his insulting comments would have made people vote harder for Todd. I hope if people vote to keep Todd in it does not end in him or his partner being injured.
