I had never heard of Donal before but he won me over last night.
He is not the best ice skater but i really do want to see him improve. I do want Todd Carty to leave though pretty quickly unless he gets better real quick.

I would say he's less well known than most of the others, which is a disadvantage on this kind of show, especially in the early weeks if you are starting off as a true skating (and dancing) novice. However, he came across very, very well on his VT last night and the sheer fact he did end up in the skate-off last night means that people will pay more attention to him.

After a few weeks the "fame" aspect evens up, and the floating voter types may prefer to support someone for whom they have no pre-conceptions.

Thanks for the info on who Donal is. I hate shows that deal with criminals etc - see enough about them on the news - so I probably haven't seen any of his shows. However, he came over as a completely nice sort of guy on Sunday; I do admire the way he arranged skating practice and lessons in the various countries he was working in .... unlike some who might use "work commitments" as an excuse not to put in the hours!!!

I hope he improves and goes a long way in the show.

Like an earlier poster said, I think it depends on your age and your interests - he's the one I know best out of this year's intake. Never heard of most of the women and only one or two of the men. But McIntyre ... sigh But I am somewhat concerned that it looks like Sofakat & I have competition trying to muscle in on our man
