FANTASY Come Dine With Me
first off i live in ireland and as the prog is not filmed here i will never be on it. and second, even if it were i'm not sure i'd be brave enough to enter.
so. what about a fantasy cdwm? i totally love the prog and even watch the repeats. and the repeats of the repeats. what starter, main, dessert would you prepare? what drinks would you have? what wines? table settings etc.? i would start prep a day or two in advance so that my night would be spent as much as possible with the other diners. lots of food can be prepared in adavance and heated/cooked at the last minute. my menu would be: starters: a choice of capsicum soup or tomato and basil soup or smoked salmon cheesecake mains: confit of duck with mashed potatoe and oinon gravy. it would be simply plated on a white plate atop a mound of mash and then covered with onion gravy. or plaice with a lobster sauce. i'd roll the plaice and steam in foil in the oven with lemon and butter. once cooked i'd place it on top of the lobster sauce with a cooked prawn (shell other than tail removed) and a sprig of dill coming out of the top of the prawn. just a simple arrangement. mash and veg would be served as side orders so the dish looked perfect when served. dessert: lemon posset apple crumble with homemade custard vanilla icecream bomb with fresh strawberries i'd make vanilla ice cream, roll balls of it and dip into melted chocolate and return to the freezer. sliced strawberries around it with a strawberry coulis. the crumble i'd make in a tray and then cut out circular portions and serve warm with homemade custard. i reckon the majority of that meal could be pre-made and so make for an easy night. yes, hard work in the days leading up but easy on the nigh. i could add a veggie option if i was told there was going to be a vegetarian there. i'd love to serve a small but tasty cheeseboard with crackers. maybe some brie, camembert, stilton, and some other hard cheese. and then some homemade chocolate truffles with good coffee (and an option of different teas). wines: though i love sancere and would have it in, i probably wouldn't have this as my main choice as lots of people don't enjoy it so for middle of the road wines i'd chose my sancere and a muscadet or chablis and for the red i'd pick a fleurie and a pinot noir. and although i hate the stuff, i'd have a bottle of dessert wine for anyone who wanted it. also some nice brandy on offer. for drinks i'd make sure to have lager/beer, all the usual spirits, a sherry, choice of mixers, and a special non alcoholic drink for those who don't drink and for them a non alcoholic wine too. real napkins too. and also be nice to all. not sucking up nice, but nice and welcoming and attentive to the guest.oh, and i'd like to be first up for the competition - i think that would be easiest. what would you serve? |

I love come dine with me, but never understand why the contestants produce such fiddly and difficult dishes, sometimes its the first time theyve tried it! Why not do a trusty faithful that you have done again and again!?

Starter would be stuffed peppers I guess, main would be spaghetti
because it's practically the only thing I can make that tastes good, and dessert would be orange cheesecake. Nice and simple
