I've tried to use it on a few occasions, it records ok but after the "Retrieving Info" Screen, it said the Music Recognition service is unavailable.

Works fine on mine (also on Simplicity) although I have had occassions when it has not responded. Check you have a signal and try switch the phone off and back on again?

my phone did once go through a phase of doing that (ive always been on O2) but I think it was a temporary problem as it just started working again one day. Its a w910i

maybe you could check your gprs/wap settings, or whatever they are.

I have seen that in Orange. I think its just that the TrackID thing is a bit shonky.
