Hi,

Can FM's please recommend me one of the above phones, plus SE XP1. I need to select one of them, but a very split decision as none of them are perfect re: connectivity (wifi/3g), touch, keypad, etc.

Any help much appreciated.

Kind regards,

MN

First decision you have to make is touchscreen or no touchscreen.

Hi,

I'm crap at such definitive decisions when there's such small differences.

ideally, I'd like the Storm (full screen) with 3g and Wi-fi and a decent camera, but as none of those is available - I think it's really cynical of Vodafone to remove wi-fi from an otherwise ideal phone.

I'm also thinking of usage after any contract finishes, hence esp. the wifi (+ 3g), but it looks like those considerations will have to be an after-thought.

Thanks in advance.

Kind regards,

MN

I'm not keen on touch screens, especially for sending emails. I do like the storm's touch screen, in the way that it moves down slightly as you press it (so it feels like you are pressing a button), but I can imagine typing an email using touchscreen is going to be slower than a full qwerty keyboard.

I also got confused scrolling through the menu items on the storm, thinking you had to scroll down to go down (like a scroll bar) rather than scroll up to move down (like moving a piece of paper I guess)...

I like the bold, had a quick play with that recently. Nice and stylish, and there's no doubt that if you want outlook email, contacts, calendar etc the blackberry solution is better.

I have an E71 for personal use, and I like it very much, apart from the network operator's push email service - it's a bit unreliable on my phone (disconnecting and not re-connecting automatically for an hour or two). There's some good shortcut buttons, wifi, camera, etc.

As for the curve, it's okay, but I find the buttons a little too small / seperated and can't type as quickly as I can on the E71. Bold's buttons seem better, albeit from a small amount of use.

Do you need to buy the phone NOW?

If you wait about 2-3 months, a variant of the storm will be available with WiFi on top of the current spec. This phone will also NOT be exclusive to Vodafone.

Alternatively, the HTC Touch HD has all the spec if you decide you want a touchscreen phone, is already out on Orange & O2, and will hit T-Mo & Voda by April.

If you want a keypad, I'd go for the Bold.

Hi,

Unfortunately, yes -Well past my contract, with a dodgy phone.

The full-screen for multi-media seems so appealing, but other issues bring the other handsets into consideration. I'm not dogmatic, but can't decide what's best when none are ideal -if that storm was available sooner on t-mobile (ish).

Kind regards,
