I'm tempted to go for this phone, however the lack of camera on the front and flash puts me off.

Anyone recommend this handset?

If it puts you off, don't get it or you'll probably regret it.

The W595 is the same as any other 'budget' Sony Ericsson phone really - same menus, good music player, ok camera - nothing much to say about it tbh.
One thing I noticed missing from it though was 'power saving' options. I had a an animated screensaver on there and the light seemed to be perminantly on. Didn't have enough time with it to look through it much as I was just setting it up for someone.

I'd recommend looking for the right phone for you that has a camera on the front and has flash if they bother you. No point getting something just for the sake of it.

I spose a camera on the front and a flash on the back isn't really needed, I never use them on the phone as it is.

Is the handset itself actually a good one?

I can't find any faults with this phone in reviews, nothing but praise. So I guess this will be my handset for the next 18 months, unlimited texts, unlimited internet, 75mins a mth, £20 per mth. Bargain!

You do know that SE make this phone and the Three signal on SE in your house is pants ?

Isn't the phone £48.93 to buy on this tariff (£15 texter ), assuming you are talking of £15 texter plus £5 internet ?

I'm taking a risk with it being a SE. My wife's 2 z610i's had signal probs however I shouldn't think all SE phones are the same with signal.

3 offered me this phone free if I upgraded with them on the £15 texter.

It seems like you are taking it purely on price .

Amongst things you mentioned you wanted Wifi , a certain camera set up a set amount of minutes and not a SE phone all these have been passed up on to get a £15 + £5 tariff and a free phone it seems .

good luck with your choice

IMO the free internet bundle is pretty pointless for this phone as it's not really an 'internet phone'. Sure you can check emails in txt format and access wap sites, but not the ideal phone if you want to use the net.
Have you considered leaving 'Three' and trying with a better operator? Fair enough you might pay about £5-£10 more but you would also get a much better phone and a decent bundle.
I just had a Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 free on Vodafone on a £35 a month bundle - free unlimited internet, 600 minutes and unlimited texts.

The internet isn't free, it'd be £5 a month.
I currently have a Nokia 6120 and that's not an internet phone, and I access any website I want on it, including facebook and digital spy. I'm sure you can do the same on the W595 and not just access WAP sites.

I am going for it because I actually really like the look of it and needed an mp3 player anyway! Nobody here has slagged it yet so it must be ok!

Or they haven't got it lol

In the end you know what you want and if you like it, go for it!
I like SE phones and would probably go for it myself if I wasn't so fussy on having WiFi and flashy OS etc.

Let us know how you get on with it

Thanks, yeah I will let you know.

Going back to the internet comment, most phones now can access any website not just WAP sites so not sure why that comment was made.

I'm 99.9% sure the w595 would be more than capable of visiting any website I wanted just like my Nokai 6120 could.

Just get a phone and stop the threads eh mate.

You've been given loads of advice and yet keep making more threads asking the same questions.

I wanted peoples opinions on this phone. I don't see why that effects you in particular.

Have you searched for online reviews? There are loads. You have to make your own judgement call at the end of the day. No one else can decide for you. Go into a store and handle the handset. Decide. The end

I have ordered the W595. Free handset in Jungle Grey colour, 600 texts and 75mins, £15 a month. Also got a 2GB memory card with it, and 2 months free line rental.

Yes it's another 18 month contract starting from April, but I've always been happy with 3 anyway.

Can't beat that really as I never use the mins or that many texts so I have more than enough. Brilliant handset by the looks of it too.

Lol, you're great mate. Looking through my thread and your other ones, you've been slagging that phone off for the past week. Hope you enjoy it.

That was my initial impression. After looking more into it, it's actually a really good one. Would have preferred it in black but I can live with it. However you can't refuse a deal like that.

Received today. Not great signal. Never used to get much at home because I live out in the stix but my 6120 have me a decent 2 bars. Now all I am getting is 'emergency calls only' unless I put my phone upstairs and I get 1 bar.

a phone that doesn't get an adequate signal is no use.

take it back as soon as possible

Whoops, bearing in mind SonyEricsson's reputation and reviews of that handset. I think it odd you still ordered it. But I would return it as soon as you can. Hopefully they will exchange it for a better handset.

The thing is my Nokia 6120 had probs alot of the time with signal aswell. I don't live in a great area for signal. My wifes Sony handset is the same. The phone also had excellent reviews online, hence why I went with it.

Three is known to have bad reception hence why I said try someone more reliable.

Vodafone and o2 seem to have the best receptions from my experience.

I wouldn't touch 'Three' if they paid me I'm afraid!

Now I'm confused, in the previous post you said the Nokia 6120 gave you a decent signal (2bars), but now you say it had problems with the signal as well.

Its very difficult to advise you what to do with all the unclear points in your posts. I would suggest finding out why the signal is poor in your area. Find out which network has the best coverage in your area and then BEFORE purchasing, borrow a friend's handset on that network to check your actual coverage.
