Series link - intelligence?
Hi,
Series Link is a great feature (one I used on Windows Media Center for years), but I was wondering if someone could explain the logic/rules behind it for the Foxsat HDR. For example, the series link in Media Center looks at: - same Series name - same channel (option to choose all channels) - similar start time (give or take an hour) (option to choose any time) - repeat flag (I guess taken from program description) (option to choose all shows, including repeats) - frequency (normally weekly) (option to chose once daily, every time) Some shows on BBC HD are repeated later in the week, later at night, and I would like to have the confidence the HDR is not recording those as well. and, it would obviously be great if there would be slightly more flexible in setting up the parameters for the series link. Best, Wouter. |

What you're describing isn't really 'series link', it's just a software bodge to try and imitate it.
'Series link' is transmitted along with the EPG information, so there's nothing you can do to alter it, the broadcaster provides it 'as is'. |

It would indeed be nice as long as broadcasters will remember to always use it. From what I have gathered in the forum, this is not always the case unfortunately. 'software bodge' can sometimes be a great tool to capture human error (i.e. broadcaster not including correct details).
Some shows last forever, or are repeats in random order (say Sesame Street by lack of a better example). Series link would not help me in such case, even though a program is repeated daily or weekly. Since I only have the box running for a few days now, I know I have to do many further 'testings'

I prefer it as it is but I had a strange problem.
Both MOTD and the championship had recorded, the next programs were 7 days away in the EPG but werent selected to record and both programs last timer were still at the top of the schedule like it couldnt find any future recordings. |
