My conversations on the subject of freeview PVRs have told me that Humax were the only manufacturer who said they could produce the machine to the freesat spec at the target price. Once the initial period is over, much more of a free for all can start, and they can sling the price out the window. It's very tough to make for £300, not tough at all if you can spend what you like. Is that more accurate, Bob? We are likely to se a Topfield box eventually, but it won't be £300, the 7710 is £450, without freesat approval or EPG.

Another firm who appear to have had a shipment are RicherSounds.

Showing as orderable with "BUY IT NOW" buttons (which don't appear unless they have some) at the RicherSounds website either as standard product at £299.95 or else with their REFUNDABLE FIVE year SuperCare at £329.90 (ie if you don't use it you get a window in 5yrs time to reclaim the £, assuming RS are still in business of course):
http://www.richersounds.com/showprod...FOXSAT-HDR-BOX

And remember their PriceBeat policy MIGHT be usable to save £10 over a competitor:
http://www.richersounds.com/informat...&cst=pricebeat

Not aware of any cashbacks for RS shopping. Believe you can phone your local store and get it delivered to there for collection (with potentially some freebie eg Sennheiser earphones if you find a RS voucher - eg in the VIP section of the website, though I think that precludes use of the PriceBeat policy).

JUST had an email from Argos (i asked them to keep me informed) stock now in for home delivery, although the website shows out of stock. Maybe they havn't caught up yet.
Yes I had an email from them too but it looks as though it is reserve for in store collection only, not home delivery. There are 10 stores from Maidstone to Dover that show under my postcode and they all show as having stock but home delivery shows as being out of stock.

I had an email from Argos today, as well.

Went on to the website to reserve for store collection, and all the stores in my area showed stock available. However when you get through to the final page, it tells you there is no stock.

I tried this at all my stores, with the same result. I even got an email from each of those stores thanking me for my reservation, but with a big red X saying "Currently Out of Stock".

I have rung all the stores in my area, and they don't have any

I particularly want to buy from Argos, as I have £300 of Argos vouchers

This is a hard machine to buy

I'm struggling to find one anywhere. Does anyone know why nowhere has any? Were just not enough made, are they extremely popular or something else?

I've just phoned maplin and been told they have a delivery on the 25th Jan and another on the 2nd Fed, I placed my order on the 13th Jan and was told that mine will be in the delivery on the 2nd Feb.

If you subscribe to there email newsletter you can save £25 so can get it for £275

Available online at Homebase (remember they're part of HRG, owners of Argos)

http://www.homebase.co.uk/webapp/wcs...Number=5321832

and also seem to be available for store pick up via Argos

http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Produc...xt%3EHUMAX.htm

Argos may be channelling more through the stores as they're in the new catalogue rather than just online as before Xmas

Just a bit puzzled - my posting #77 just a few before yours shows RS has them in stock ... and still showing as available to order (ie presumably in stock as their website often says "NOT AVAILABLE ONLINE" when they have run out of things) at 3:38pm Sat 24/01/09

Though will admit I overlooked they want £6.99 shipping (presumably avoidable IF you're near to one of their stores).

Same mixed up first/middle/last screens on that site as on the Argos one.

The first screen says TICK home delivery within 2 days BUT the next screen says "NOT Available In Store. Home delivery currently out of stock" then the Checkout has another Stock Availability test based on #+postcode which says "out of stock, delivery usually within 2 working days".

They want you to trust them too ... when they can't even design their own website properly

John Lewis called this morning to take payment for my pre-order as my box was in stock in the Northampton warehouse. It's 5-7 days for delivery - in this day and age!
Well it arrived from John Lewis this morning. I pre-ordered with John Lewis on the phone a week ago, and I was called on the 22nd to arrange delivery (with 5-7 business days quoted). So I am pretty happy to have it so quickly.

Phoned John Lewis today. I was told 900 were due in a day or two ago but they couldn't tell me if they had been received or when they would appear on the website. They are expecting stock to go quickly and they have another 4000 on order for delivery in March.

Checked Argos and my local store had one which I've now picked up None of the other stores in the area are showing stock.

It looks as if the Foxsat HDR is getting into Argos stores. I was able to reserve one today from one of the Derry stores. Unfortunately, I might not be able to collect it due to a family bereavement.

Hooray, I finally got one

I spoke to one of the Argos Store Managers, who said that it is worth checking stock availability at the stores, not home delivery after 5.00pm. Apparently, reserved items not picked up by 5.00 are put back into stock, and will show on the web site.

Lo, and behold, I checked my local area at 5,05 (after checking all throughout the day with no luck), and suddenly 4 became available at Rayleigh, Essex, and was immediately able to reserve one - just been to pick it up.

Will be setting it all up tomorrow using my existing $ky dish and cables (2 inputs from $ky+) - can't wait !!

There's 1 left now at Rayleigh, as I type.

Didn't think it would be long before this type of site appeared for the FoxSatHDR.........useful though, cos I used one last year to get a Wii fit and before that a Wii as well
