Looking for some comments from owners/feedback - i'm a long time Tivo user looking to switch to a Foxsat but understandably nervous as the Tivo interface is so good.

I've just had a good play with an HDR that's been running for a few weeks from the looks of it. I tried setting a recording and found the disc was full so then investigated deleting programmes. This seemed rather long winded and difficult. It was also incredibly slow.

My observations/questions-

- is there no auto delete of old programmes? One of the killer features of Tivo was the automatic disc management that meant you had a disc full of recent programmes or things you'd specifically decided to keep. This Foxsat had rapidly filled up due to series link recordings for things like "Doctors" and and would now record nothing new.

- the only way to do a real clean up was through the 'file manager' interface which allowed both individual programmes and whole folders to be deleted. What's the function of this interface - why does it have two lists? What else can you use it for?

- Delete was ludicrously slow. A single 30 min programme delete took over 10 seconds. A folder delete with maybe 10 programme took a 90 seconds or more.

- You can't delete anything while playing a show. (not a problem but would be better if some feedback rather than just a greyed out button)

I was moderately impressed with the machine. It seems well built and the on screen menus look good but the interface was still way behind my Tivo (released to market 8 years ago!). The foxsat is approaching the same functionality but seemed to need more button presses (and significantly more buttons on the remote) to achieve the same tasks which is disappointing.

No there isn't

this interface allows you to move files and create folders as well as delete

Again no you can't

thanks. It sounds as if you've used one - is this performance for deletions typical?

Pretty much, though you can delete a single file without using the file manager. If you press the media button highlight the file and then OK there is a delete option in the next prompt.
