I noticed that all supermarkets have put their haagen daz prices way back up to around £4, so I'm looking for an excellent alternative. One of my fave haagen daz flavours is the cookies n cream. I noticed that asda do a whole 1 litre tub of their own cookies n cream for only £3, compared to a half litre tub of haagen daz for £4. Has anyone tasted it and could they say if it's as nice as the haagen daz? This is what the tub looks like, only this picture is a different flavour.

sorry I haven't tried it, but give it a go - it should be good anyway

I usually shop in Asda all the time, but I was in Morrissons just before Christmas, and I picked up a 1litre of their own brand "Absolutely Gorgeous Toffee Pecan" ice cream - and thats exactly what it was, Absolutely Gorgeous - I think that would have been around the £3 mark too

I hid it in the freezer so nobody would find it (in between the 2 goes it took me to eat the whole tub )

I think I will buy some once I've polished off my absolute fave haagen daz cookie dough and then defrosted the fridge.

The thing about haagen daz though is the unique flavour and texture of the vanilla ice cream itself. I love it. I much prefer it for instance to ben n jerrys vanilla and I reckon I'll be hard pushed to find any other vanilla ice cream the same as haagen daz. BUT, we shall see
