Does anyone remember having this pudding at school? It's basically cornflakes dipped in syrup spread over a pastry tart base spread with jam. God it was gorgeous with custard!

I find myself wanting to try it again - does anyone have a recipe for it?

Thanks. I did a google search, but just wondered whether anyone had any recipes that were tried and tested.

Just looked on the school recipes site, and yes it's there. I'll be trying it this weekend!

Try it for yourself, if you have kids they will love it (probably!)

Lushness, I always remember a favourite pudding I had at primary school. It was syrup sponge and was moulded into silver tins the shape of a swiss roll. I used to watch the cooks slide the top half of the tin to reveal the sponge which was very moist, if not the best quality, but very delicious .

Oohh I remember that too - what memories!

I feel sorry for the kids of today, I'm sure their deserts are not as good as what we had - bless!

no they're not. i used to work as a mid day assistant in a school at lunchtimes , and in the dinner hall as our rota required, and there desserts were along the lines of, yogurt or friut, a dry looking sponge an plain custard. a piece of flapjack. things like that. nowhere near as nice as what we used to have. i used to love the custard skin too. and banana custard was my fave , as well as the cornflake crunch mmmmmmmmmmm xx
