Anyone else found EPG mistakes for Sunday 11th and Monday 12th January for FIVE?

I recorded Men in Black II on Sunday and The Detonator on Monday.

Both recordings were split by news bullitens.

Both films had parts missing (recording time errors - finished too early before the news and too early at the end) and both films were split into 2 seperate files for each film - the part before the news and the part after.

So for 2 films there were 4 files!

I expect the missed endings would be due to meta data errors supplied by Five, although I've had the same with recordings from BBC HD, the first episode of Hustle for instance (repeat episode).

You will get split files for programmes separated by the news, I expect it works like their Freeview boxes. It does however play the files consecutively so you should not notice the join.

With both my files it just stopped abruptley at the of the 1st half and went back to the media library.

When are Freesat going to make the companies more consiciencious about EPG markers?

Why aren't the EPG markers set like analogue ones where they stop (buffer) into the news break and not before it thereby losing seconds or worse, of the programme?

When are we going to see a recording implementation on the Humax that simply pauses the recording for the break instead of stopping it and then starting afresh after?

I for one don't want missed programme content before / after the break nor 2 seperate files (or more) for one recording.

Then that must be a fault, the recorded files should show the split recording symbol in the media list. I would have thought it should work the same as their Freeview boxes, after all the software, to some extent must be based on that.

Well they are still getting it wrong with Freeview+ and that's been implemented over a year now.

I agree a better implementation of the 'start pointers' to avoid losing the beginning and/or ending of a programme is necessary. But I expect there will always be situations that result in missed beginnings/endings. Extra padding may be the way, but that too has its problems.

Well that could cause a problem with extended news broadcasts, but I agree a single file looks better. However, if the two or even more files play contiguously then the end result is the same.

That's the problem they don't
