Jayne looks as if she has lost even more weight than last year, and her figure is great. But did anyone else think that she looks are if she has aged quite a bit? Not just Saturday, but when they showed training clips before the show even started. Or could it simply be she has been given the wrong advice with make up?

I thought she looked a lot slimmer than last year...maybe her and karen have been going to Weight Watchers together

I thought that she looked fabulous, having lost quite a lot of weight, but that her hair and make-up don't flatter her. Still, if she's happy with it, that's what counts, isn't it? I just wish I had her figure!

She looks fabulous, imo, but the hairstyle on Sunday wasn't flattering. It doesn't suit her when it's all scraped back; she looks better with some hair framing her face.

I agree. I love to see her hair down, preferably with some curl to it.

After she gave up skating, and before she starting DOI, she had a short hair style which was much softer, and I think suited her better. Having said that - didn't she have short hair when she competed?

Can I play 'Devil's Advocate' and say that I think she has gone too thin?

Trouble is, when you lose a lot of weight when you are 50+, you shed it from your face as well as everywhere else and it can be very ageing.

Both my sister-inlaws have done in the last year and although they look better physically, it has made them look quite haggard facially.

I intend to lose at least 2 stone in the next 6 months as, like Jayne, since I gave up exercising (because of a back injury) my weight has ballooned and it has got to go, both for health reasons - my joints are creaking, and my daughter is getting maried in July and I don't want to look like a prize heifer in the photos!

However, I know that it will produce lines and wrinkles facially that are now all plumptious and rounded because I'm overweight,

As they say, 'you're damned if you do, and damned if you don't!'

(P.S.) do you think Jayne decided to lose weight because Chris has a dodgy shoulder and if she was lighter he might be able to lift her more easily?...just a thought)

She's certainly fitter for losing all that weight which is good for her skating, but I think she was the perfect weight during DOI 3, some meat on her bones. As long as she doesn't lose anymore, but she's looking much more confident about herself, which is great to see!

See, I know when I'm 50 I won't have to worry about wrinkles because I have chubby face to fill in the gaps, so there's my excuse.

If you watch the Dancing On Ice clips on the official site, there are adverts there for her new fitness DVD. She loos very toned indeed in just a leotard. I have to agree about lookng gaunt - whenever I lose weight, I look unwell - it doesn't suit me. So, chocolate here I come

Hi geordiegump, Chris injured his shoulder during the week before they recorded the Christmas special, so that was after Jayne lost the weight

Jayne has only gone back to the weight she was throughout her entire adult life - up until she stopped skating in the late 90s. Plus she began losing the weight once they started working on DOI again, and that was in late 2005. The first episode was in Jan 2006.

It wasn't like she'd been massively overweight for decades and then drastically lost alot of weight. At her heaviest she was a size 14, pretty ordinary for most women, but looking plump for her as she'd always been small.

I think losing weight can draw your face. I think Fern Britton looks worse for losing weight, facially.

Jayne has always had critiscism for her looks and has always been deemed not pretty enough in her younger days, especially as Chris was always deemed handsome and was buff!

I think she looks great and for her age - wow she look amazing!

Why do people always criticise the way women look? Jayne looks fab.

Todd on the other hand is balding with a beer belly, and Donal looks weedy after his weight loss he should have stayed beefy.

She was on the Alan Titchmarsh show one day last week talking about her fitness video. What a 6 pack she has - shown on the video not live on the AT show. She had her hair down and looked very attractive. I suppose she has to have it up for skating, but she should let it down again when she's just standing with Chris, Philip and Holly.

Same here!!! An older friend of mine often says that once you reach 50, you have to decide whether to look after your face or your figure! I have heard Eamon Holmes say that you don't get wrinkles on a balloon!!!!

A chubby face is not as ageing as a thin one and I have seen elsewhere on this website that some people thought Fern Britton looked a lot younger when her face was chubbier than it is now!

Yeah, Fern looked much better before the gastric thingy. I think she's gone to the extreme a bit because some people are big boned and it just doesn't work!

A balloon never has wrinkles thing, I'll have to remember that one. "Oh...you look a bit...deflated..."
