i think it is absolutely disgusting that there are people on this forum who are slating ray for the way he looks.

fair enough if you want to slag his looks off in private, but to make posts on a public forum is like a form of bullying. ray could read this and imagine you were reading similar things about yourself.

absolutely vile!

I really find it difficult to see where people have seen evidence of him being arrogant, and I watched him throughout x factor and rewatched his interview and performance on Sunday. In my dictionary arrogant is someone who is rude and stubborn about their opinions, I would like someone to give me an example of exactly when he is supposed to have done this. He has never argued with a judge and has taken on board criticism, all with his trademark smile.

All he is a boy with big ambitions, a willingness and confidence to try everything to the very best of his ability - he is not the sort to do something half heartedly. He is also not afraid to be himself - all "cheeky charm" and strong Liverpudlian accent. Personally I see nothing wrong with his looks, but even if I did, that is hardly his fault is it?

I think, he is someone who will become an entertainment stalwart doing bits of this and that on stage, Tv etc, but always in work. I would very much like to see him acting again now he is an adult as he was a really superb child actor, and he had only been doing after school drama classes for a couple of months before landing the part.

I am so glad to read this thread as I find it quite depressing that people seem to have such a dislike of someone like Ray who is such a multi talented person. To have achieved what he has achieved in his young life is remarkable, and he seems just as down to earth and natural as he ever was, no airs and graces, just a chirpy, happy, confident Liverpudlian. Someone like him should be applauded and admired, not vilified and criticised, and I for one will be voting for him all the way on Dancing on Ice.

Acted in Brookside (if I remember right)
Acted in the West End
Had a fantastic first week skating

If he was in America they would champion him but in Britain we knock anyone that is half decent and support the underdog!

I secretly love the underdog but at the end of the day we have so many talented young people and our press is just waiting to pull them down. I'm not a fan but Ray is an example of someone who is obviously talented and enthusiastic.

Why don't British people take pride in its talent instead of supporting British underdogs and buying American?”

Hello

His list of achievements could also be read as a series of failures.

I guess it is all about perspective.

His 'Sinatra Swagger' has been spotted by the judges already.

Perhaps that is projecting the wrong image?

Speaking as a non-Brit, what I notice about the English in particular is that you're not supposed to blow your own trumpet. If you are talented or gifted, you get on with what you do, not scream 'Look at me, I'm dead good, me!'. You don't show off, it's not nice or polite, and you don't show that you think you're brilliant. I don't know anything about Ray Quinn so this post isn't intended to reflect my opinion about him; I'm just responding to the OP about 'Why don't Brits support talented people?' I don't think it's the talent which is the issue, it's the show off element that gets up people's noses.

If it was a level playing field and everyone skated like Todd did then I doubt there would be such a fuss about some of the constestants rights to compete. Then Dancing on Ice would be about who is the best and who improved the most in getting to the final. However Dancing on Ice is not like this as there are those who have skating experience up against complete novices who have never ice skated. The same as Strictly Come Dancing where you have acotrs/actresses who would have had dance training at stage school.

The edits of them practicing are deliberately chosen as to make the better ones look not so good as they actually are.

It's an old trick to con the public and gain favouritism for whom the producers want to win. Just watch the Big Brother winner each year and see how often they are shown in a bad light compared to others.

You really think the likes of Simon Cowell actually gives a monkeys about who the public votes for in X Factor/Britians Got Talent. The answer is no as he knows he is in a win-win situation. If the winner flops like Leon, then he knows full well that he has a new winner next year. And if they have some success he cashes in on it.

The same with Dancing on Ice, Strictly Come Dancing and other celeb contests with phone in votes. The real winner are the TV companies as they know they will make money one way or another. And yes the BBC do make money from selling the Strictly Come Dancing formate to other TV companies like ITV do for Dancing on Ice.

The VT as i saw it went out of its way to give the opposite impression. Todd had booked himself into panto and was doing DOI in the margins and that was contributing to the fact he was so far behind everyone else.

Its the usual problem that even when the production team try to make a point (don't vote for Todd others are more committed) unless they make it totally explicit its lost.

Nothing wrong with him but he could skate quite well before he started the show. Not fair.
