Question about my dog

Hi
I take my bulldog Buster to the fields everyday and he loves it, and always runs around the fields sniffing and generally just bounding around.
Today I went with a friend and the friend's dog, who I've walked with my dog plenty of times before and they always get on, and today I was playing fetch with my friend's dog. Buster doesn't ever play fetch, but today when I was throwing the stick for my friend's dog, Star, I showed him the stick and threw it to see if he wanted to play but he didn't. However, a while later, I showed him the stick and he took it and started chewing it up, and spitting the bits of bark out.
My friend said jokingly 'oh maybe he's jealous that you're playing with Star and not him'. Do you think maybe that was the reason for him doing this?

My dog isn't a bulldog - but is a 'bully' breed.

He isn't a great one for fetching sticks, but he does like to pull on them if I have hold.
And if he has one to himself - he does chew it up like a bone, and spit out all the pieces.

Buster is maybe just exercising his natural instinct to 'chew'

Oh ok, thank you, I was just wondering because he's never done it before.

Just normal behaviour.

We are dog sitting at the moment, our dog doesn't do sticks but the other one does. Ours pinches the stick and chews it up, i'm the boss attitude I suppose.

Don't worry.

I have a bulldog too, and he isn't really interested in sticks an what not, not until he starts seeing another dog playing with one. Then he'll run after it! I agree with the others, normal behaviour!
