upgrading phone software question
Does anyone know if it possible to upgrade the software of an old mobile so as to keep the same phone but upgrade its functions?
I have an old Nokia 8310 which is so basic it doesn't even store sent texts and doesn't allow you to create a text more than one text long, hence it is a pain to use! BUT I really like the size, weight, shape and key pad of this phone, compared with some of the, albeit more stylish, wider phones that are around now. Is it possible? and roughly how much should I expect to pay if it is possible? thanks |

Its not really allowed to talk about hacking phones in the forum. As the firmware is copyright Nokia, it would be illegal for a third party to dissasemble it and reverse engineer their own version.
You could try contacting Nokia to see if there is a newer firmware version available, but this is unlikely to add any functions and would require you to send away the handset. Cost would be about £30. Your best bet is to look for a similar handset, perhaps something like the Haier phones which are tiny. Have a look on ebay. |

OP... try asking people on modmy Nokia on ModMy Forums, the forum where people discuss and teach you how to hack and mod everything. Someone there will probably know.

Ooooh, I didn't realise I was asking about "hacking" or anything illegal. I simply thought there may be a more up do date version of Nokia (what i call software?) that could be put into my existing Nokia phone!!
Thanks for your comments. |
