I must admit I deep fried them last time I did Scotch eggs, but thinking about it I see no reason why they can't be baked. We bake breadcrumbed fish so I can't see why this should be any different. As long as the sausagemeat is cooked you will be fine!

Not pointless if you think about it. With the chips being fried and the cheese high fat, if you added a deep fried item to the plate the whole thing might taste a bit greasy.
"drinking diet coke while eatin a cream cake " kinda thing. why worry about the diet bit when everything else is fatty. you know? yeah think your right. i will bake em xx |

the best scotch egg I've ever had was at the Tate restaurant. The yolk was still liquid inside and the white cooked through, and I haven't a clue how they did it, even taking the shell off a semi liquid egg seems to be a nightmare

You might receive a whole lot of abuse from people for using the word 'Scotch'. Apparently it can be considered to be very offensive. Shame about the eggs, the tape, the whisky, etc.
