Sky Launches 118 Service..
118759 (118SKY) - Claims to be cheaper than 118 118 and further discounts for Sky Talk customers.
Apparently Sky will be providing a free trial period to Sky Talk customers where the service costs nothing. Personally I prefer to use the internet to look up a number DQ services cost a small fortune to use - so I'll only use em when I've no access to the net. Out of interest - if DQ services were cheaper (for example 5p more than the cost of the standard call) would people use em more often? |

how about 40p for 2 searches, no extra time charges if the
operator takes the time to track down ther correct number hang on a sec that sounds a lot like '192' remember that, before OFCOM decided that what was required was lots more competition and as a result the price went up !!!! I wonder if sky talk customers will be able to dial the DQ provider of choice (118118,118500 etc) or will have to use skys own 118***, |

I may give the free one a try sometime - see how annoying the ads are. |

What I'd like to know is why on earth people need to keep phoning directory enquiries.
You should have the number of anyone with whom you are dealing on various pieces of paper and people you know usually give you their number. How do people know about these entities for whom they have no phone number? Even if it happened occasionally it's hard to see how it can support what seems like a fairly large industry. I haven't needed to use directory enquiries for over 20 years. |

So why did you need to use it before 20 years then, going by what you are saying?
It's not that there's never a need for someone to use it just that I can't see why it's such a big deal and why it seems to be such a large industry. Surely there can't be that many people who are so ditzy that they consistently lose telephone numbers. |
