Ryan Secreast trying to 'high five' the blind bloke
Flaxseed

did anyone notice that? he put his hand up expecting it to be slapped, when clearly the fella didnt see it since hes partially sighted...

It was a bit cringeworthy!

RS is a knob.

That was pretty funny.

He then had to explain he was giving him the high five as he clasped his fist. What a der-brain!

It was an honest mistake. At this point, giving "high fives" and such to contestants must be a bit of a reflex for him. He realized he made a mistake and corrected it just fine. Hardly "cringeworthy".

Didn't find it cringe-worthy, just highly amusing. I was sat there thinking, 'oh no Ryan.. don't do that' lol. He realised his mistake though.

*Chuckles*

it was funny, but he didnt mean anything by it - guess it was the norm for ryan , i liked that guy but i dont think he will go all the way unless he loosens up a bit.

It was a little cringeworthy, but nonetheless funny and no malice was intended

I'm not usually overly pc but I've got to say I found that a bit sick - whether a genuine, reflex action mistake, or an ill conceived joke. Most amazing thing of all though is that it made it past the edit onto the show at all

why so what hes blind? and big ****ing deal ! does that mean that no one can even attempt to do a norm thing like high five with him?
ryan did it as a form of communication and affection not as some people would like you to believe to show him up or anything.
man whats this world coming to...

My goodness, but there is a ton of overreaction to this. Granted, this is the first time I've seen anyone act like it was a horrible thing to do....

It was a reflex reaction. He gives loads of high fives to contestants, and rather than TRULY insult him by pretending it didn't happen, Ryan reached down and told him he was giving him a high five, and they actually had one.

Good lord, if Paula can be excused for giving a critique to a song that hadn't been sung yet, then I think Ryan can get away with this.

Im sure it was just out of habit that he did that. Nothing sinister intended...

Not much different than on Dancing With the Stars where the host put up a microphone to the mouth of one of the contestants who was deaf (and either signed herself or had an interpretor standing by)...

it was funny, but no big deal. Visual impairment wasn't the first thing on Ryan's mind when he interacted with the guy -- that's really not a bad thing.

Either way, Seacrest is a talentless tool. I often wonder how on Earth he gets gigs. He's such ape rick.

I think it was funny.
And nice as it showed Ryan forgot he was blind, most people now adays are on edge around people with disabilities of anykind but this showed Ryan isn't discriminative on any level. People need to stop being so touchy!

Thank you.
My great Aunt was partially sighted, completely blind by the time she died. She never let it get in her way so I don't get why people get so angry about things like the hifive incident It seems people who haven't experienced what it's like to have a disability are more angry than those that have one which, to me, makes no sense at all.

your all slagging off RS yet out of all the reality shows he is by far the best presenter out there and fits in with the AI ethos.
and far too many people in this would have PC shoved up their ass - lighten up ffs!

Well, clearly the Television Academy felt differently as they nominated him for an Emmy for presenting Idol.

Meanwhile, Cowell seems quite keen on turning Dermot O'Leary into a Seacrest clone. Which obviously means he thinks Ryan's presenting style should be imitated

I guess that happens to "talentless tools" all the time.

To be fair I am partially blind and it varies the field of vision you have Ryan may of imagined his field of vision may of been enough to see him. Parially blind can be blind in one eye blind to as close as a few inches or a few meters. Glasses are for correcting the lens in the eye and it kind of is like when you don't have glasses but the condition maybe about the optic nerve instead or some other dysfucntion or ailment. Don't know if he was more apparently blind thgough have to tune in tomorrow.
