Just wondering if anyone has any suggestions for any bands with a kind of bluesy rock style. I'm a massive fan of Jack White and his bands, so i'm looking for something vaguely like that.

You could try the Yardbirds (Roger The Engineer), early Led Zeppelin, Jeff Beck Group (Truth and Beck-ola), John Mayall & Eric Clapton 'Bluesbreakers', Cream etc.

A really good bluesy rock album is the Allman Brothers live at the Fillmore from around 1970.

I think Jack White is quite into 60s garage music, so you could check out the Nuggets comp and bands like the Sonics.

completely endorse the above suggestion of Yardbirds, John Mayall's Bluesbreakers, Zep etc

would add

Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac
Cream
Jimi Hendrix Experience (stuff like Red House, Voodoo Chile (long version) Catfish Blues etc)
Spencer Davis Group
perhaps Wishbone Ash
Robert Cray Band
Santana (very latin, but has some strong blues influences)
Lynerd Skynerd (uptempo for the most part tho')

a lot of good blues/rock goes under the name of the band-leader, so John Lee Hooker/Clapton etc have bands, but it is the front man who gets all the credit.

Check out The Answer. Unlike all the other suggestions here they're a new band; their debut album Rise was very Zeppelin-esque (Jimmy Page even went to one of their concerts!) and had some great bluesy riffs (check out 'Preachin' in particular). Their new album is out in February.

I just checked them out on Youtube. I think their spiritual home is 1971...good stuff!

yup - Plant's solo stuff is good

Joe Cocker

ZZTop - their earlier albums in particular - Deguelo, Tres Hombres etc - check out "Jesus just left Chicago" and "Fool for your stockings"

the borders of rock/HM have tracks that fit the bill even though much of the stuff is fast-paced.

Schenker/UFO, Deep Purple and Jethro Tull have stuff that fits. say DP's "when a blind man cries" or "new day yesterday" by Tull.

most of the younger bands don't have the confidence to play slowly...

Yeah, earlier today i joined last.fm and they were one of the bands recommended to me, so i gave them a listen and really liked them. I'd heard of them before but never got round to actually listening to them, so i'm glad i gave them a go today.

Some great choices in here!

I like Ry Crooder and also love Rory Gallagher, This is Rory live singing Bullfrog Blues.

You might want to check out Lynyrd Skynyrd (i can't spell it) as well as the aforementioned ZZ Top.

Also from a british perspective, I really rate Gary Moore as a superb blues man.
