Ipod touch & itrip...Sound quality problem.
RAY VON

Recently purchased an ipod touch & an itrip

Tried them both in the car last night...not happy.

Sounds like it's coming through in MONO, not Stereo.
Not happy with the sound quality generally as it sounds like theres too much top, to the point where any lyrics with an "s" sound in them sound more like "sh" if you know what i mean.
Tried messing with my car audio treble/bass (which is decent, not factory fitted) and altered the sound setting on the ipod (i normally have it set on "accoustic").

Any suggestions?

Yes .... use a wired connection if you possibly can.

I've yet to hear an FM Transmitter connection that doesn't sound crap.

I impressed with the Kenwood KOS-A200 I fitted to my car, this fits inline with the aerial and doesn't suffer from external radio signals causing problems.

^^

Never heard that one but as it's over £100 I'd expect it to be bloody good!

Mind you, I could replace the head unit with a Kenwood one with aux-in on the front panel for half that price!

yea like it or not fm is an inferior way to transfer music even if you remove all static.
even casette adaptors are superior to them by a long margin. but well most cars no longer have those. leading to an odd gap where older cars have better mp3 player connectivity than many newer ones before aux in got standard.

I regret getting an FM transmitter for a trip to Germany, the iTrip worked well untill London, where the number of stations meant finding vacant FM space was difficult. But that was nothing compared to the continent where every frequency was in use!

I only paid £50 or so from eBay, and yes it is very good. It will also play music from USB sticks too.

iTrips are very hit and miss and rely on some free FM frequency...I have an Aux In socket to my car head unit and have a cable from my iPod Touch dock connector to the 3.5mm aux in...works a treat
