DHD4000 Niggle Cured
vonclimax
17-01-2009
From new when accessing any DHD4000 menus, after a few seconds the screen would become dark & blue - as tho' the red & green guns had cut out.
It was still readable, so we soldiered on.
Yesterday after learning how to access the engineering menu by dialing 1004 very quickly after entering 'Technical Help' (9), and enabling 'Logging' in order to cure an EPG problem - I find that this morning the menus have entirely lost 'the Blues'.
The EPG problem was solved but the log also referred to (as I remember) 'tidying' & 'emptying' some files.

If this rings bells for anyone or anyone can explain - I'd be most interested. Thanks in advance.

Just the menus? Or the recorded material too?

All I can think is the scart connection being a bit dodgy, they are awful. I expect you'd have already noticed it on programme material though.

Just the menus, but including the mini screen of current programme one gets in prog guide. Press any key and normal colours return for a moment or two. Exit menus and full colour returns permanently.

Checking scarts and pressing in firmly made no difference tho'

That's very weird. I'd be tempted to see if it affects the S-Video, Composite or UHF outputs too. Probably dry joints somewhere though

As I seem to have cured the problem either by emptying the EPG (cache?) and refilling it
or
enabling logging
I think I'll rest on my laurels - missus is v. impressed I've been able to fully restore lost EPG with the help of this forum.
Cheers
