Comic Relief Does Fame Academy has been axed after three series

http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/realityt...ic-relief.html

Such a shame, it's what I most look forward to on Comic Relief.

I'm not surprised that it's all over but I do think it had a strong format when the casting was right, but for me 2007 was poor and didn't have the connection the 2003 & 2005 shows had.

I didn't really feel the 2007 series was strong enough a show to warrant the show returning this time and this is coming from someone who LOVED this series in 03&05 to the point of obsession. Besides 3 series is more than enough, Red Nose Day has to revamp every now and then too, can't always be the same spin off.

Lastly while I love Claudia Winkleman she just wasn't (for me) a good replacement for Cat Deeley who wasn't back in 2007 due to her US TV work. But thats just me..

I wonder what the "new show" will be..

The Celeb Apprentice is back, and also the Celeb Kilimanjaro Climb are both gonna be on in primetime BBC One as spin off's but will a live show of some kind run nightly like CRdoesFA did?? We'll know very soon I'm sure

Fame Academy RIP

Typical BBC. See a good idea and abandon it for any weaker one.

The main show would perfectly fit their charter requirements to educate as soon as they showed the learning process . It did what X factor fails to do - showing who was good at what and who just did as they were told - because X factor has to manipulate the result.

The Celebrity show had major problems last time with a weaker group of singers, ridiculous public voting which saw better singers go and people being voted off by the celebs on sex rather than merit, but that was probably manageable. The sheer numbers of celebs doing singing as a part of their training and turning up in musicals doing reasonable jobs surely made it posssible to find another good group if they tried and it should have been possible to revise the format a bit to make it more of a positive and attractive experience for those who volunteered .

Me too. It's almost the only think in Comic Relief that interests me at all, and I'm going to miss it.

You could well be onto something there and with Lisa Snowdon fresh from Strictly on BBC One this could be something great.

I'm sure the full Comic Relief launch is very near so not long before confirmation of whats to come.
