I have been with Orange since 1999 and have had a new phone every 12 months until May 2007 when they tied me into an 18 month contract. I currently have a Nokia 6300 which is not great and I need a new phone.

Obviously this means upgrading and another 18 month deal.

There are so many phones out there but this is the deal they have offered me and I was wondering if it's any good?

Deal as follows:

18 month contract
- LG Renoir
- 600 minutes
- unlimited texts
- magic numbers (ie free calls to other orange numbers - I have 4 magic numbers at the moment)
= £27.00 per month

+ £5.00 for insurance which would take it to £32.00 if I took that option

+ £5.00 for unlimited internet access which would take it to £37.00

So is this a good deal? £27.00 - £37.00.

I was thinking about getting the iphone on o2 but a similar deal for 600 mins and 500 texts and unlimited internet for 18 months is £34.26 and I would have to pay £96.86 for 8gb phone or £155. 61 for 16gb phone and the £34.26 does not include insurance.

Also the LG phone has an 8 megapixel camera whereas the ipone is a scandalously low 2 megapixel camera!

So what should I do?

Any advice?

Thanks in advance!!!

Is the phone the one you want? And do you want an 18m contract? Will you make use of all those minutes and texts? You can get 400 mins and unlimited texts, half price line rental for nine months - £30 for rest of contract (nine months). This is with Orange http://www.dialaphone.co.uk/basket.a...16&qty=1&ins=1

Well the phone looks good. And I'd like unlimited internet access. £15.00 seems good but when it stops it's £30.00 with no insurance or internet.

the deals available are a minefield!

£37 a month for a mobile? See this is why I'm with 3. I now pay £20 a month and get unlimited texts, 75mins to any mobile/landline, unlimited internet. W595. I don't need many minutes as I pay for a landline at home and I work with multiple phones around me.

Everyone slags 3, but unless you've tried them you can't grumble. I get on great with them apart from a minor hicup at the mo.

The wife got a C905 , I like the phone , its on VF , a free phone , 18 months , 600 mins , unlimited texts , unlimited internet for £20 for first months then £40 for the last 6 months , discounted directly off the bill no redemptions to re claim

If the c905 is big , so is the Iphone , never held a Renoir

Works an average of £26 ish monthly and insure is £6 on top

you see of the handsets I looked at the other day, the SE was the smaller sized, and was a pleasing shape to the hand! The n95/96 were quite wide - I fear I have become a 'screen snob' and what put me off the c905 was the relatively small screen size. When really it's not small, just smaller to what I've become accustomed to! iphone is so much bigger than the c905, which keeps itself within what seems to be a 'regular' handset size
