i got a free upgrade from vodafone in november c905 and sold it on ebay

the buyer just emailed me saying its playing up and should he do.

this would have a 12 month warranty with vodafone.

can the buyer just take it to a vodafone shop or would he have to return it to me so i have to do it

cheers

As far as I am aware it's not your handset to sell. After the contract ends the handset becomes yours.

I cannot believe people still believe that!!

When you take out a contract the phone is just a bonus - that the network are supplying you with is the use of a phone line for x amount of months.

Whatever you do with the phone is up to you.

To the OP: tell the buyer to take it to an authorised SE dealer - they *should* be able to get a repair under warranty as long as the fault is non-accident.

when you say authorised se dealer
does that mean a vodafone store would do it

well your buyer would need to prove the warranty, which he cant unless you can provide him wiht a proof of purchase

this happened ot me a few years back with nokia they wouldnt fix my 9month old phone cos i couldnt prove the warranty even tho it was clear that the phone was under 1 year old as i couldnt prove a proof of original purchase as the guy on ebay who sold it to me hadnt provided it

I bought a Nokia 6280 off ebay a few years ago and I took it to an authorised dealer to fix the loose slider, I was willing to pay for it but he brought up some code which told him it was still within the 2 year warranty and he repaired it for free - I'm assuming SE would work the same way.

Can I ask, I am about to sell my old 3 handset... i have formatted the memory card, deleted contacts off the phone, and all images. I take it when someone puts their sim card in, it will access THEIR planet 3 and not mine right?

That's correct - when they access Planet 3 it will collect data off the sim card. As it won't be yours, all your info is safe.

I can confirm this - if you take it to a Carphone Warehouse Express Repair Centre, they can get an engineer to check the Manufacture date from Nokia's IMEI database. AFAIK Nokia offer either a 25 month warranty from manufacture date OR a 24 month warranty from Date Of Purchase.
SE also offer a two year warranty, as do Samsung, and again there is a method that a good engineer should be able to use to get the manufacture date.

Hope this helps

On eBay when you sell the phone, in the 'bundled items' section where you tick what comes with the phone e.g. battery, wall charger, headphones etc, there is an option to choose 'warranty'.

If you didn't state the phone comes with warranty, you don't have to do anything. They've had it over 30 days.

What you want and what you get are two different things, that's the risk you take when you buy second hand goods!
