Orange "Unique" service
I currently use BT Fusion at home for mobile calls but the handset is rubbish and BT have pulled Fusion for home consumers.
I have no mobile coverage (any network) at home. I thought Orange Unique (UMA phones) looked like an alternative but I've been unable to find out if it would work through my existing BT wifi hub (i.e. without having to have Orange broadband as well). Does anyone know if this will work? |

I'm not sure about the 'Unique' phones, but I've got a wi-fi enabled blackberry on orange which would connect to my BT Home Hub router. When connected the phone showed 'UMA' instead of the 'GPRS' symbol and I assume the calls were routed through my BT Broadband rather than the mobile network, but still included in my monthly bundles.
Since I've moved to Be* I haven't been able to connect in this way (I think it's something to do with the ports) |

The Orange service will work with other broadband providers, Orange prefer you to use Orange Broadband so they can manage the whole service as it is possible for other broadband providers to block the ports which UMA uses.
