Released last Monday, Bon Jovi's Greatest Hits with a twist.
As an avid Jovi fan myself, I find it an intersting take on their classics, although some fans have given it a mixed response, although I think its a brave move to do something different, when the band are always criticised for not doing so.
Anyone got it or heard it have any opinions?

just finished downloading this (for preview reasons ) and am listening to "Wanted Dead or Alive" as i type.

this has a new twist on the classics, accustic rock. the album sounds cool !

Is there a norml version availble.

This version went in at No.4 on the album chart at the weekend!

Of this album, there is a version with and without a bonus DVD, although most shops are only stocking the DVD version. If you mean just the songs in their original form, 1994 Greatest Hits "Crossroad" will have most on, apart from It's My Life (Crush) and Everyday (Bounce)

Was that the (very good) '5 man acoustical jam' album ? If so wasn't that just an acoustic gig, and not reworkings like Bon Jovi have done in the studio ?

This album was going to be a live acoustic concert recording, but they changed their minds and went for something different. Sure, its been done before, I havent heard of Tesla, but who was credited with started the Unplugged series in 1989? That would be a certain Jon Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora doing Wanted & Prayer on 2 Acoustic guitars.

iIbought this album last week, and its very good be i think people really need to understand the concept of it, instead of putting Bon Jovi for it, not many artists do this sort of thing and I for one welcome a different perspective on their greatest hits.
Although perfect for Bon Jovi fans and fans of "80s rockbands" fans, stereotypical fans of pop music will probably hate it if they already own Cross Roads, unfortunely.

I do wish 'Wanted Dead or Alive' wasn't the single being released of it, because the oprning is rather weak compared to the rest of the album, despite the original being one of their best and well known songs they've done.

The AOL DVD is a nice bonus, by the way!

To me, this is an album that reeks of desparation! One for Bon Jovi diehards, most definitely!

Try listening to your missus playing it every waking hour for two weeks and see if you still like it.

If you go into this album thinking it is going to be the usual rock music by bon jovi you'll be very wrong and as result may not like it. The songs are completely reworked and takes abit of getting used to. It's a brilliant album and is completely original as it isn't just acoustic, u have to listen to understand. And tony techno wot u said is absolute crap, bon jovi desperate, I don't think so, this is one of the biggest selling bands of all time! It aint about money it's about creating something new and fresh, despite being there old songs!

The "This Cash In Feels Like Christmas" album is just to suck precious cash out of you.... Its terrible that they release all their songs acoustically at Christmas just to get themselves another few million... Re-recording well rehearsed songs and selling them back to you....

Yeah, right, whatever. The majority of music fans would agree with me. Elton John keeps on re-hashing his old stuff too. The message is clear to these people-if you've lost your touch, bugger off! Unfortunately, most musicians can't take the hint...

Anyhow, isnt the only member of the band Jon ? and the rest all signed up as backing musicians only, and therefore not eligible for their full performing rights and wages on any rerelease track that is simply a rehash in the editing suite ?

Jon is one of 5 members of the band but why let facts get in the way of dissing music you don't like. Jon, Richie & Dave wrote 95% of the bands music- so find the session musican point at bit irrevelant. It was a bit like that at the start- Jon signed up other members to back him on Runaway, but since then its been the band as a whole entity.

I didnt set the thread up for Jovi-bashing, just opinions on the album. I can see that it may be a cash in, but at least it is different in some shape or form- and look at Michael Jacksons "Ones". thats a rip off- 1 new song, everything else previously available.

If its a true accoustic session ala BJ Unplugged then Im OK with it. If its a five day knob twiddling exercise with yet another 10,000 'personally' autographed album covers on eBay - (remember the Bouce paraphenalia that appeared as a marketing ploy), then not for me

As for TLFR, I am garnering opinions from outside of BJ fans, as thoughts on the songs. The album has disappointed many fans in the same way as the Own Wild Night live album did, because out of the vast amounts of material available, the end prodict is very poor. I think, on their own, the songs are OK, nothing amazing, but it just disappoints as a plain acoustic album would have been much better- and I am being left envious of the Michael Jackson promotion (well I was before this morning!!! ) and looking at the new stuff available by other artists (i.e a Rolling Stones live 4 DVD set).

And all the ebay stuff- that id a gigantic piss take by the record company and I certainly have no good opinions on that!

They haven't rehashed the same old stuff. This is completely re-written music. Crossroad was rehashed stuff (except for the two extra songs).

I think TLFR is a brave work and I think it does work in a way but it isn't the sort of Rock (or even ballad) music that Bon Jovi fans are used to.

An interview with Jon stated that he had promised the label something before the end of the year and when they finished touring in August they went straight into the studio to work on an acoustic album. However as time went on they decided it would be good to rework existing songs from the ground up.

This all from a band who actually have enough money to never have to work another day in their lives. So I don't think you can say it's about money for Chistmas (other wise the band and the record label would have been promoting it... note it was purposely not promoted in the same way that studio albums normally are)

It's the same with the Beatles' "new" version of Get Back-I can't spot the difference to the original! Talk about lacking creativity!

Shockingly saw an advert for TLFR, but it was by Virgin Megastore. I am repeatedly annoyed by the lack of promos for Bon Jovi by the record company- apart from the 1st single, the promotion for Bounce was godawful so this approach suits them fine.
