should there be a male winner and female winner seperately

I'm always more impressed watching the girls, with all the lifts and spinning about and getting thrown around in general, but it's not really them doing it, it's their male partners. But the male contestants won't throw their partners about because they're not really experienced enough to do so, so it's more the subtle steps that the judges are looking at, but to my untrained eye it just doesn't look as impressive. Sorry if this is long and a bit garbled, hope some of you get my drift!

I get where you're coming from but it's not just about skill, peronality counts too and whether you can wow the audience and win them over, and both sexes have an equal opportunity there.

It makes sense what you say but I can't see it happening

It can be argued that it is more difficult to lift someone else and still stay on your feet on ice but I think some fail to see how difficult it is to hold your shape in the air during the lifts and land those lifts on ic on one foot.

Gaynor Faye won the first series without being able to hold her shape in the air, land on one foot, do just one jump or skate more than a few inches unheld by her partner.

Suzanne could do more complicated dancing steps than Chris on top though so in her case it was a clean sweep. There's also a question in there somewhere why the boys can't even do a moderately impressive lift - it may be they just don't have the right boys - the ones that can skate apart from Kyran are not strong enough to lift?

You have a point but the boys compettion would be dire - the Chris's would skate around very fast and do axles and the others would plod around behind them.

You would also lose much of the competition. Can Suzanne catch Chris by dancing better and adding more and more wow. Will Claire win on daring do and art v power and a journey story even if she wins on marks. Can Zoe find wow to match Ray's experience, is someone like Melinda who can do dangerous moves going to emerge as the dark horse?

Yes maybe having a male and female winner wouldn't be such a bad idea.
