My 9300T's EPG shows programmes in a number of colours, but there does not seem to be any obvious link for any given colour to a particular programme genre. I can't find any reference to this in the user manual.

It is nothing to do with genre. The darker purply colour indicates that the progam is part of a series (and hence can be set as a series link) and the pink colour indicates a split event eg a film with a news bulletin in the middle,
