I often find it intriguing that the bitchiest comments on this part of the forum are reserved for the female skaters. Why is this? Apparently wanting to do well is a crime? This isn't who's got the greatest personality contest it's who is best at ice dancing and Zoe came second from the top. Shes seemed really lovely to me, they all did.

Have you read any of the threads about Ray

I really like her... She seems so sweet.

Yeah I have. The comments about the boys are usually because they are good and streets ahead of everyone else for example Chris and Ray. Ray also had people who had a preconceived idea from X Factor and refuse to shake that.

The comments on the girls are also pretty damn cruel. But if it makes people on here feel better to bitch about people they don't know, good for them. It's just not something I tend to go for.

I think its because people may feel that Ray and Chris have/had an unfair advantage? Or they may just dislike them for whatever reason.
Ray seems like a sweet lad to me and very talented in everything he takes on. I loved Chris.

I would say that i found Gemma unlikeable yesterday she didn't endear herself to the public at all i thought. But i wouldn't say thats bitching just how it came across to me - some people may go more personal with it but i wouldn't choose too.

I don't think many people would want to listen to that (which is why its on daytime TV) I don't think Melinda or Roxanne or Jessica or Gemma show much signs of wanting to spout forth on any topics either.

I can't see why people who are pretty enough to enter beauty competiitions should be bland either - there's a known positive correlation between looks and intelligence so as soon as smart people saw it as a way to make money you find the smart and the dumb competing there too. Its a smarter way to make money than doing most jobs.”

Sorry, I thought we were talking about our opinions/impressions of Zoe, not everyone on DOI...

Lots of smart people don't enter pagents, as they would see that the investment does not always correlate with the earnings - monetery or otherwise. I have seen Zoe present Blue Peter and I have seen her on grown up tv and I felt the same. She is bland.

There is nothing wrong with having an opinion, and as someone who shares theirs frequently, I would expect you to agree with that!

Again, I didn't know this thread was a GCSE compare and contrast question. My statement was about Zoe. Why should it matter what the other DOI-ers are like?

It is the very fact that Zoe is so intelligent that she clearly works really hard at the "brainless, blonde bimbo" persona that drives me mad. I was a classmate of Zoe's at Queen's and know how hard she had to work to get her degree, as I did too, but I haven't heard an single intelligent syllable from her since then, not that I'm listening very hard since the truly dreadful Children in Need show from Belfast.

Contrast Myleene Klass who is brilliant and gorgeous but has never needed to simper to get on in her career.

BTW, Zoe skated very well on Sunday and I was pleased she went through.

Wow, what a sweeping statement! I'm slightly amazed anyone could hold such a limited opinion.

I'm treading reasonably carefully here as I don't want to offend. Firstly, there isn't total correlation between intelligence and hard work. I know quite a few people who got 2.1s from Queens in law. At least one of them got it because she worked her ass off, not because she was particularly intelligent. Fair play to her, she was determined and hard working, but she certainly wouldn't have much in the way of insightful, intelligent conversation to share with population at large. Basically, what I'm saying is that Zoe is not necessarily working at the blonde bimbo persona. Maybe that's how she genuinely is with her friends. I also know lots of academic type people who can be total ditzs in some circumstances.

More importantly, Zoe works in light entertainment. She has obviously found a persona that appeals to her viewers and pleases her bosses. Perhaps that's a better indication of her intelligence. In the type of presenting work she does, they clearly aren't looking for a Germaine Greer or Polly Toynbee. Zoe has been smart enough to give them the kind of product that they want.

Anyway, I hope Zoe has a good time in the course of the competition. But I think Ray Quinn has it in the bag.
