Gemma has had lots of experience competing with other soap stars for awards so probably would see it that way. Not sure who skated with her either at her ice rink so she may only have seen Roxanne before rehearsals .

She's also one of the people who have come up by acting learning on the job and breaking the ceiling for child actors getting into adult work. She hasn't been down the drama school or higher education routes. She hasn't done the dancing or singing courses or musical theatre acting or learnt how to do PR or had training how to avoid saying the wrong thing. She's also the youngest of teh group. She's also evidentally not skated before.

All in all what she said and what she managed to do isn't surprising - though it would have been great if she had managed to get to Zoe or Melinda's level.

I don't think she could play a soap character and work at their pace or look that convincing in a regional accent though. There are some people in soaps who could do movies - most would be ruled out by looks as thats the main requirement of a movie actor but some can and do make the transition.

To paraphrase an old maxim -
Those who can do - those who can't appear in soaps.

Fortunately Kate had a choice.

Also remember Kate started out in a rubbishy sitcom.

A proper actress uses this prime-time trash as a stepping stone to greater things.

He gets paid for the series anyway presumably, Jessica and Ray start with too big an advantage for him to win this year and he may get Zoe for the tour if he wants to do that.

I got the feeling that there were more exciting and vote winning things that he could have done with Gemma if he had tried a bit harder. Lots of one legged skating and a jerky lift were not it.

True in the days of really big movies but how many of those are made these days and how many people don't end up playing themselves or even being picked for realistic films because they sound like soap actresses? Better a soap than a Brit Crime drama or High Street Musical 209?

mmmm didn't mean it that way round. Kate Winslet is one of the most versitile actresses in the world.

She was a cocky little madam who has finally been taken down a peg or two. Every interview i've seen her on she always appears that way.(I don't think Roxanne will be that far behind her either!)

I find it really difficult to warm to the soap actresses who go on these reality shows, don't know why I always find myself supporting like Elleray, who comes over as humble

I thought after hearing her last week on the show that she was far too cocky and arrogant but after learning tonight that she was a massive fan of the show I wonder if she just got so caught up in the excitement of being there and competing that she got a bit carried away in interviews?

I liked Gemma when she was a little girl playing Debbie's daughter in Easties. But since then the roles she plays in Easties now and Hollyoakes is offputting. I wonder if she is really like the characters she plays in real life?
But no I couldn't warm to her at all in this competition.
