Somehow, short of an unexpected fracture or disaster, twould seem to me no psychic is needed to glance several weeks into the future and see that its without doubt a Ray v Jessica final. NONE of the others, men or women are within a mile of them ability wise. Its just a question now of trying to see in which order the rest of the them go.... if any justice the next two will be Todd and Coleen.

I think that Zoe is up there with them. But don't let's forget it is decided by the viewer vote and you only have to get someone who doesn't like Ray and judging by the XF thread there are plenty and it throws the whole thing up in the air

I think it's going to be Ray vs Jessica final two with Zoe or Ellery making up the third finalist.

Ray can't lift high. Zoe can't be lifted high. Jessica has no story starting well and isn't so far that likeable - and as Jason said she's mechanical rather than artistic. Ellery can lift but can't move or look stylish. Melinda actually can move and can be lifted. It may be all to play for.

Problem is Colleen and Todd may be in the top 3 of the public vote so we amy have weeks of embarassingly bad skating and there's no one built as well for ice dancing as Suzanne, Claire or Kyran.

I'm a bit ignorant about ice skating - what sort of build is best for male and female?

I don't think that's a definate yet

I was sure last year would be Gareth vs Chris in the final and Gareth finished 4th last year

Never under estimate the Power of the Journey!

I agree, Zoe is excellent.

There is always a shock exit of some kind, either Ray or Jessica will go before the final imo. Perhaps Jessica - I have no views on it myself but her previous skating experience, however small, kind of goes against her in viewer votes I think.

One of the main problem areas may be strength/height for the male - can Ray lift anyone above knee level? On the other hand being built like the incredible hulk may make you look bad and move slowly (Greg? Kenny Logan on SCD?) The combination needs to be right. And for the females beng tall may mean its very difficult to do anything like Claire or Suzanne's headbangers or the overhead lifts. Not sure about female height generally or where the boundaries are - on SCD its usually seen as a problem s the tallest people have more body to control and end up looking gangly (Jodie Kidd was 6-2) but not sure where too tall starts. Claire and Suzanne were about 5-2 though and bonnie looks the same or smaller which may suggest short may be better for DOI .

I wouldn't rule Elleray out- and he has a popular pro partner in Frankie

We don't know that - he has yet to try - none of the men have demonstrated an ability to lift, although Ellery certainly has the strength - but I would venture Ray has the technique.

“Ray can't lift high”

He lifted his partner onto his shoulder when all the skaters came on at the start of the programme.

Yes he did. Also according to Bendymixer who knows him well, he lifts his partners when dancing too.

If it was decided just on skating ability alone i think ray would walk it. Theres no doubt hes the best on the ice, personality wise hes not the most popular with the viewers thats why he wont win.

Missed that. His first performance suggested he couldn't lift her above his knees and he held her at waist level. Lets see if she goes higher.

Gaynor Faye was a very average skater, but became incredibly popular.
The best skater or even 2nd or 3rd best skater dosen't always win.

I think Roxanne has a shot. She could be the "journey"

Well the shoulder is higher than the waist, so he's already managed that in week 2; bodes well for the future.

I see little potential there - I'll eat my words if I'm wrong, but I fear that any progress they make will be on the back of Dan's popularity.

Ray lifted Maria to his shoulder this week and above last week he is used to doing high lifts off the ice (acrobatic rock nr oll so maybe he will lift)

DS is by no means representative of the publics views, because Ray is not popular on here does not mean he is not popular with the public - he did make the final of X Factor - yes he didnt win it but he was up against the best contestant X fActor has ever had

He defintely has the technique off the ice having danced with partners for years and particularly in rock and roll (competion style with high lifts)

When they were introduced in week 1 he did a roll up to have maria on his shoulder (can't remember what the lift is called) and this week he sat her on his shoulder.

Maybe they have to hold bigger lifts for a few weeks during the routines otherwise he's not going to have anything to surprise the GBP.

Such a shame that this appears to be a foregone conclusion atm. I personally thought Zoe was better than Jessica but it looks as though Jessica and Ray are going to be the judges pets this series.

Id love it to be a Ray v Jessica V Zoe final but i also have a soft spot for Melinda and Fred.
For me Ray and Jessica are way above the rest though.
