No need to connect antenna cables for playback
Hi,
I don't have the HDR yet so I can't try it out: Unlike Sky+, there is no control over the hard drive playback function of the Humax. Therefore, playing back recorded programs from the hard drive does not necessitate having the antenna cables connected I presume? So I can watch recorded programs anywhere there is a TV, correct? |

There's no technical reason why sky+ needs a dish connected for playback. It's simply sky's bl***y mindedness that makes the box want to check you still have a valid subscription to watch what you have recorded.
Since the HDR will only receive and therefore only record FTA channels, there is absolutely no need for any of that nonsense, so it should work like any freeview PVR whereby it will hapilly play recordings without an aerial connected. |
