Mp3 is an unrestricted format, so any mp3 from any source will work with any music player out there.

Apps wise, yes only apps from iTunes will install.

In iTunes, the music and video file format is mp4/m4v/AAC etc (different names for same format). Apple say they're making all their music DRM free, but I don't know how much of their music is at the moment. If it has no DRM, then it'll say iTunes Plus by it.

80% of their store is DRM-free at the moment. In a few months it will be 100% DRM-free. I took a look this morning and only 3 of the top 50 songs are still DRM protected. MP3, AAC, AIFF, WAV and unprotected WMAs can even be converted into MP3. You can get these files from anywhere, from CDs or through other means.

Well, they can, if they're in the app store.

Using the internet on a touch via wifi is brilliant, the safari browser is so user friendly. As for streaming radio, you can download an app from itunes. I have WunderRadio on mine.

I don't know much about Jailbreaking, accept that I think it means you can install third party apps.

No, it was £3.49. There are probably cheaper ones but I don't think it necessarily means they are better. I can only tell you about the app I have. It's great in that you can stream radio stations from all over the world and the touch can use GPS to work out what your local stations are. The streaming is not always brilliant though, though that may be more to do with the connection speed. Yes you can add whichever stations you want.

I didn't know if it had AV out but I checked and I think it does. Check this link. Hope that is what you were referring to.

Oh and yes full internet on the browser.

Thanks 4 the info. Is it just wifi? So if i was on the bus and went out of wifi range it would go off? Is there any other way to stream or use the internet other than wifi? Does your radio app let u record too?

It's full internet, except flash. So you can't access pages made entirely from flash, although you can browse pages with bits of flash on though they won't be active.

The radio is just wifi so yes it would disconnect when out of range.

Is there any other way to stream or use the internet other than wifi?
Well, there is the iPhone which connects to net via phone signal...

iPod touch & 2nd Gen differences = slightly different look, the 2G has speakers, external volume control, microphone input support, a 100mhz faster processor...so far this doesn't affect much as the 1st gen has the same capabilities.

You can't install any flash plugin. Flash hasn't been developed yet for the iPod touch/iPod touch Safari

Yes its just wifi on the iPod Touch, you would need something like an iPhone with 3G to connect to the internet anywhere. My app does not let me record.
