ok so sometimes I will go to stroke my kitten in the spot he normally likes and he will start trying to bite me, last night he plonked himself on my pc chair which I roll next to my bed to stop him getting up somewhere so yeh I just plonked my hand on the chair to say hello and he then proceeded to continuously bite me, non of the bites were that hard, I am just wondering if the biting is him playing or him saying leave me alone

I would say he is playing if he meant it it would hurt, some kittens are more rough than others

I would not encourage that kind of game. It is a game kittens play with kittens.

It might be cute now but if it is not nipped in the bud, when your kitten becomes a cat,it will continue to play that game with it's adult teeth.

I don't instigate it as a game really he just does it occaissionally when I go to stroke him or if my hand is near him

With our cat, unsure of exactly how old she is, we decided early on that when we were stroking her, and initially she liked it, as soon as she turned on our hand and started to bite us, we would just get up and walk away, without saying anything. A bit like a child being refused attention when they have been naughty. We just applied it like that. Oh and also watch for the signs so that you can be aware when the kitten is going to do it. We realised quite soon when Lily was about to strike! Tailing swishing and flat ears are a good indication!!!

Edit, meant to say sonds very kitten like behaviour, but just to be aware when they are telling you subtly not to touch them for a bit.
