Phone Modem vs Mobile Broadband USB
My current contract soon runs out with Talk Talk. I want to go down the Mobile Broadband route.
Which is the best option USB dongle or Phone Mobile as a Modem with regards to deals/speeds. Which network gives good price on each option. I will drop my landline & get new mobile phone if reqd. Cheers |

'Phone Mobile' as modem works reasonably well, though you have to be imaginative about the connection to get any speed out of it. and you tend to get smaller data allowances. i'd be more inclined to suggest this for occasional email checking whilst you're out and about.
dongle's are pretty cheap these days and most networks offer a discount for existing customers. the most important thing is that you check the coverage. |

If you get a T-Mobile Flext account it includes web & walk (internet) on the phone, but for only £5/month more you can use your phone as a modem. If you had an HSDPA handset it would work as well as a dedicated USB modem.

I'm looking towards phone being used as modem route, so as to have only one contract.
Anyone else know of any good deals. Currently my landline broadband has avg 1.8mb speed, would I be matching these speeds with a phone. |

my 95-2 connects at nowhere near hsdpa speed. i can't remember what the speed is. i'll check if i get the chance. the only way i can get the full speed is with joikuspot, which is excellent. |
