Hi there !

I recently received a Viaccess 3.0 CAM from a eBay seller techdigital-uk (they were the cheapest).

When going into Menu > System > Common Interface, the screen updates as shown here.

Choosing the Viaccess Access item, the screen updates as shown here.

Choosing the Smartcard management item, the screen updates as shown here.

Choosing the System Information item, the screen updates as shown here.

Choosing the Language item, the screen updates as shown here.

I have a Mutlitenne 4 LNB dish, so I get Hotbird 13, Astra 19, Astra 23.5 and Astra 28.x.

I have yet to get an Art Arabesque card, but if I choose an art channel like here, the Foxsat HDR toggles between two screens like here and here.

I'll get an Art Arabesque card at the end of January, so I'll update this post with the results.

Has anyone tried it with the CAM of a certain firebreathing mythical creature?

What are these .tiff files you are linking to?

Does it work with a Dragon Cam? I have one in my HDCI-2000 but if the Foxsat PVR allows them to work as well then I may get rid of the HDCI and get a Foxsat PVR instead.

Yes it does. I use my Sky freesat card for CH4 HD in non-freesat mode. The card has to to go back in the Sky box from time to time to keep it "alive". Also, the predicted new Sky cards may not work with the dragon's current firmware.

I have a freesat card which is currently in an old Sony Sky ( Non HD or Sky+ ) Box.

Would this work in the above setup for C4HD?

Yes.

Only in non-freesat mode though, so you're very limited.

Just an update. I got my 12 month art card today, and it works fine in the 3.0 Viaccess cam.

Now, here's the question, if you record something using the FTV card, or even a subscription card, can it be played back when the card is not in the box?

I'd guess yes because once it's been decrypted the Humax doesn't apply any further encryption.

Does anyone have any particular recommendations as to the best performing CAM on the market that will cope with all the latest decryption requirements out there in ONE module? (MPEG-4 is a must of course...)

If you want to use a Sky card I think there are only 2 cams you can use it with, Diablo and Dragon. It seems most people prefer the Diablo for whatever reason.

I don't think it is that the Diablo is necessarily preferred, that was just the first card anyone tested with the HDR- AFAIK the Dragon came works fine.
