That's one of my fav ever corrie scenes. The only person I can think of would be Audrey as that would devastate Maria and she's a corrie legend. I hope I'm wrong though.

Loved at Carla & Tony's wedding with Sally when she said she always thought Liam would leave her "but not like this, never like this" another one that never fails to set me off!!
There was another great scene with Kirk as well in the hospital after she crashed her car into the factory steps and she thought her baby had died!!

Samia was absolutely on fire acting wise at the time & was well & truly robbed of best actress by Kath Kelly at the awards in my opinion!!

As I have said elsewhere, I have found the storyline behind Kylie's departure so distressing that I have not watched Corrie since. I had not intended my decision to be permanent but have been unable to give it a chance. However, the fear of missing this storyline, and to a lesser extent what is happening with Leanne, has persuaded me to return to Corrie viewing on Monday, or maybe even Friday.

I agree about Kylie's demise, BRILLIANTLY acted & well written but so raw & graphic, very upsetting, but at least a fitting send off to a wonderful actress/character!!

What a promising start with those scenes with Aidan tonight!! I admitto reservations about the lack of build up & it being somewhat out of character for Maria these days but the chemistry between the pair of them was fantastic, the product of the actors being friends as you pointed out in the episode thread!! That was certainly the most relaxed I've ever seen Shayne in a scene since he joined (I do like the guy I have to say, what I've seen of him, seems very grounded considering he didn't have the easiest of starts in life!!)

Certainly, now they've 'broken the ice' with Aidan & Maria I can't wait for more scenes with the two of them and I'm really looking forward to all the Caz drama!!

For me, though I know I'm biased, tonight's scenes, both with Caz, and with Aidan show just how good Samia is at making scenes believable & natural! Her acting style is not all
showy & overplayed, if anything she sems to purposely underplay some scenes but the result always makes me feel for Maria as a friend rather than just a character!! Does that make sense?

I agree completely and one of the things that make me like the character of Maria is that she feels like a real person. Samia plays her very naturally and not ott as you said so it's easy to relate to her.

So glad Samia is finally getting a meaty storyline... bring on Aidan and Maria - Maria and Caz. I think it's about to get interesting.

In ways Kylie's character was at her best at the end. Befriending Freddie and rushing to Gemma's aid in particular.

As you will see elsewhere, I did indeed watch Corrie on Friday rather than wait until tomorrow. Having the first episode open with Maria made for a warm welcome back.

Maria is soon not going to know how to react to Eva, Luke, Caz and maybe Aidan. Leanne may want to have a go at Maria (again!) when Eva feels hurt, but in view of her own recent matters may feel obliged to avoid comment on anyone else's antics.

I wondered a while ago when the spoilers came out about Aidan & Maria whether it would reignite the Leanne/Maria feud!! That was one of my favourite parts of 00s Corrie as I just loved both characters in those days (04ish if I recall)!!
So many characters could become involved in this, will be interesting to see even how Audrey reacts given how fond she is of Luke!!
As much as I love the more mellow 'grown up' Maria I would really love to see a bit of feisty angry Maria come out as well if everyone starts having a go at her, there was already signs of frustration showing on monday night!! Would be great fun to see Aidan squirming if she lost her temper in front of him & Eva & he thought she was going to blab! Actually I really like Maria in angry mode, yet another thing Samia does realistically!! There was some brilliant scenes around the whole Frank Foster incident where she lost it, one especially memorable one with Chris when he wanted to punch Frank & she told him to go ahead if he wanted....then come & pick up his stuff & get out of her flat!! He was speechless, though it eventually led to him being uncharacteristically lovely & sensitive with her!!

First BiB - yes it was 2004, when Leanne returned after 4 years away from Corrie.

Second BiB - a scene I remember at that time was when Maria did not appreciate Chris asking her about work, then was unsympathetic when she did share a little and Maria eventually concluded In future, when it comes to my job, just mind your own flipping business. As it is, for me when work is stressful I just want to enjoy people's company outside work without being obligated to talk about it. I therefore knew exactly how Maria felt.

Yes I remember that!! Poor Maria, she was so stressed out at that time as basically Carla betrayed her by allowing Frank to buy into Underworld after telling Maria, following Frank's assault that she wouldn't even need to see him!! She didn't feel she could discuss it with Chris as he was such a volatile character & also she had neglected to tell him that Carla had sent her round to Frank's flat alone on the night in question, after telling him her & Carla were going together!! She was in a horrible situation!!
Do you remember that awfull scene when Maria had to apologise to Frank for them to keep his order? It was another brilliant scene acting wise & you wondered for a few seconds if she could actually bring herself to do it or not!!
Frank was a proper nasty piece of work, but again very well acted by Andrew Lancel!!

Although something big for Samia to act out, I am saddened by the direction in Maria's life, effectively throwing out Luke then Caz from her home.

Exactly and Jen started dating her boyfriend a week after she sold her story about them, she couldn't haven't been that upset and she seems really happy now.

I think, personally (though I know I shouldn't talk like they're real people ) that Kylie's death, or rather the circumstances of it would have had a massive effect on Maria, bringing Liam right back into her mind & making her evaluate her life!! She's realised she doesn't feel the same about Luke & has set him free to find someone who will care for him like he deserves!! Caz, to me comes across as someone with social issues who probably never realised that it wasn't her place to tell young Liam about the split so in that way I felt sorry for her but Maria was well within her rights to be angry!!
The real excitement begins next wek I think when
